So then..

Saab 9-5 aero 2.3 HOT 250bhp. 140k 2001
Manaul with leather, not much history, 3 months MOT bought unseen for the princely sum of £450.

I've had an aero before (a rough, unloved one I payed £700 for) and loved it. After sorting the vacuum lines and a few bits it was a very capable and comfy car with enough welly to make me laugh out loud.

I crashed that one. Slip road, gravel, speed ,bush, wheels, subframe, scrapyard.

Anyway..
I'm on a train to Leicester to pick it up. It's going to need some work, it's not mint and I'm ok with that. It's a £450 car. As my dad says, cheap cars are cheap for a reason.
I'm not planning on doing much with it. Clean it, a bit of a service and use it. I don't do many miles any more so it's not going to be a daily as such and I'm hoping to get a Wrx/ STi scooby before Xmas so this is just a toy to play with really and for the money.. Why not?
I'll update with the obligatory service station half way home pics.. If I make it that far wink
I'm having fun. biggrin

Limited photo altering ability at the moment!
I'm about an hour away and the rain has started.

I've made it to the services!

In all honesty, it's so far really quite good. No nasty noises, the clutch feels good, it pulls well. The EML is on but I knew about that (bypass valve) and its a little down on boost but I think that ties in with the eml.

All the electrics seem to work, even the RCL, Sid is missing a few pixels but that's ok. Most importantly the wipers work!?
The seller was a lovely guy too, makes a big difference when buying a car (robbing someone!?)
So far a very happy chappy.

Thanks, thumbup

I'm chuffed to bits. I'm desperate to give it a good wash, claybar and wax!
The interior really only needs a quick hoover and a dust round, even the drivers seat is in superb condition!

It was faultless all the way home, the cruise control works well and the wipers are like new (a sign of a well looked after car imo). It was averaging around 40mpg too!.

Ebay bargain of the decade so far. I'm going outside now its stopped raining to have a poke about and take some pics. Will update in time biggrin

Lovely leather, they're as comfy as they look smile

A slight bump on the bootlid. Going to touch it up to stop any rust starting. Unless I find a silver bootlid on the floor, that's how it'll stay. The front lip is a bit scuffed but the rest of the body work is in really good order.

I finished work early today so rushed back and have the Saab some much needed love.
It had been cleaned by previous owners but not ever properly. Green mould, muck and fall out all over and paint work like sand paper.
A quick wash (very quick in fact as my pressure washer ran out of petrol!) a good seeing to with a clay mitt and and some meguiers Nxt wax. Nothing too in depth as it was raining on and off and I've been up since 4:30am!

Looks a million time better already though, so much so I might see if I can find another front bumper!

Been down to halfords for some wet n dry paper for the head lights and had a little run. I do love this car, so comfy and deceptively quick. Makes no fuss, doesn't shout about it just goes. Really quickly!

To this..

Also sorted a split (read barely hanging together) breather hose from the cam cover. I Need to see what breather kit it has an make sure it's the latest one. A nosey round the engine seems to suggest all else is ok.
smile can't wait for the weekend so I can get out and about in it!

Used the car for the first time properly after getting it home. Managed about 40 miles before it developed a rather nasty sound bottom end knock.
Nice to look at for a week. Will proberly chuck it on eBay with no reserve, £450 gamble lost.

Unfortunately I just don't have space to break it. I have to park it on the road so having a parted out car wouldn't make me the most popular person in my close?!

I'm going to put it on eBay and let the bidding go, if I get over £150 I'll be fine with that.
Shame really, but as nice as it is, it's not nice enough to warrant spending £800 getting it sorted. frown
