Thought I'd start a thread on my A3 saloon 1.4TFSI S-line S tronic after picking it up last October. I drive quite a bit for work so it's sitting on 21.5k miles now.

Quick summary of why I went for this not-too-exiting model: I was in a job with a company car and also had a Z4 coupe for weekends. However I got a new job which came with a car allowance instead. With a wedding booked and a house move on the horizon soon after, I didn't fancy keeping 2 cars.

My only criteria when looking for an all-rounder type car to replace the 2 were petrol and auto. I have never been a fan of diesel and fancied an auto for all the traffic I seem to find myself in during the week. Hence this engine choice and dual clutch box - seemed to be just about the best combination within my monthly budget.

Since getting the car new it hasn't put a foot wrong (as you'd expect really), apart from needing oil the other month. 0-62 has been recorded in 7.9secs and my long term average is now 45mpg dead. Not bad numbers on the whole I don't think.

The spec list is decent: Lotus grey metallic, 19" wing alloys, B&O sound system, privacy glass and sat nav.

Thanks for reading!

The short period together before my Z4 went (miss it a lot)

Fogs stay on for 30 seconds when the lights are on and you lock the car - pointless IMO.

Not had to actually use them yet.

They are a really well proportioned car the A3 Saloon, I think they look great.

How much rear seat space, with the seat adjusted for a 6ft driver?
It's quite decent - I'm 6ft 1 and there are about 10 inches between my seat back and the back seat. Just took this photo.

I think these look fantastic, a s3 saloon is what il be getting next, there's something so right about a small saloon, it's basically the Morden day VW bora.

Looks nice in silver too, is it black inside?
The S3 saloon is a great car - hope you do get one. Almost like the modern day equivalent of the old RS4.

Yeah black inside with black/grey seats. This is the only photo I've got for some reason.

Good looking A3 OP!

But you must be gutted about the Z4C - you didn't have it long IIRC.

Still I suppose work has to come first! frown

Hope it all goes well! Maybe you can get another Z4C for toy duties one day! thumbup
Thanks Iain.

Very gutted I didn't have it that long and I always think I want another. Couple of years down the line I will hopefully get one back. An ///M would be the dream though.

Hope you're enjoying your 2nd Z4C.

I pass an A3 1.8TFSI saloon on my regular dog walking route, it looks really nice, in fact, the first time I saw it I had to come back home and google it just to see if my eyes werent playing tricks on me as I didnt know they did an A3 saloon
I like the fact it's relatively rare by mass market model standards.

They've discontinued the 1.8 now and replaced with a new 2.0 unit. The facelift also allows you to have the 'visual cockpit' in the binnacle, which would be brilliant!
