We picked this up on Thursday to replace a Mk5 GT TDI, it seemed a bit daft to have two diesels, as we also have a BMW 330d M Sport Touring for family and long distance/holiday duties.
So we got the GTI to upgrade the TDI and to have a bit more fun with!
We looked at every colour and decided white was easily the best, so then the search was on to find one with a decent spec and in good condition. I looked at some right dogs for sale with traders, and was starting to get disheartened until I spotted this one for sale privately on eBay.
It was only 50 miles away so I decided to at least have a look, and it had a good spec too.
I took it for a long test drive and couldn't fault it, so left a deposit to collect it a week later when I got back from holiday.
While away the seller put on a new pair of Bridgestones on the front, MOT'd it as promised in the advert and removed his plate.
Its done 59k, we are the 3rd owner and has full VW service history.
Spec wise, its got Dynaudio, RNS510, factory tinted windows, 18" Monza's, sunroof, and adaptive xenons.
I'm going to retrofit bluetooth, MDI, front and rear parking sensors with park assist and a few other bits and bobs.
It's also been lowered, I need to find out what springs are on it from the previous owner, but they're very good and not bouncy or crashy thankfully.
When I get the time I will give it a full machine polish and detail, but for now some pics as it is now:

I agree, I've had tons of lowered cars over the years and wouldn't of done this one if it hadn't of already been done.
When the previous owner had it a snapped spring got found during a service inspection so took the chance then to fit some, otherwise he said he probably wouldn't of either.
My 330d is also lowered and drives very well without being bouncy. If the Golf had of been bad I would of sourced some standard springs, but I'm happy with it as it is, and it looks amazing on the street.
I don't think I've owned a car thats turned as many heads and gets as many looks since my RS4 or Cosworth!

I was thinking about selling the 330d too but really struggled to find anything as good to replace it with that has as good a spec.
In the end I thought why am I looking to spend money to find what Ive already got? So going to make a few changes to that and keep it.
The Dynaudio system is very impressive, especially the bass!

It's literally only the tensioner that needs changing to the latest revision.
Don't let that put you off the whole car!
Plus, if the seller isn't aware of the problem and hasn't had it done you can use it as a bargaining tool.
On another note, I found out it's got Eibach springs which was nice to see.
I knew they wouldn't be cheap ones from how it handled

Still loving it! The missus has done more miles in 4 months than the last 2 years put together (still under 2k lol) as she loves it too!
Not much to report really apart from adding the bluetooth module for handsfree calls and bluetooth music streaming.
I need to update the firmware on the RNS510 for full audio control via the head unit and steering wheel, but will sort that soon as I get time.
Ive also done some coding in VCDS for various things.
I'm already starting to think my next car is going to have to be either a Mk7 GTI, R or GTI Edition 35. I'd ultimately like to go for an R estate, but doubt their value will of dropped enough.
When we got the car the xenons were on permanently, which was a bit much, so turned them off via VCDS, I'm now looking into having these side lights as DRL's instead.
Also, as it had been lowered the xenon range was terrible, I really noticed a huge difference from my 330d xenons.
I quickly realised that because it was lowered the self levelling was out, so I reset that with VCDS too and now they're excellent.

Its got Eibach springs, and I agree, the mk6 is definitely my favourite GTI.
No point fitting any handling or other such mods as it is mostly driven by the mrs and she loves it as it is.
I've already told her when she wants to get a new car I will buy it and retire this one to the garage for future classic material
Edit: Forgot to say, its a manual

I'd have loved an Ed35, but it was out of budget.
We were originally going to get a mk5, but I pushed the budget a bit to get a mk6, so couldn't go any further.
I'm so glad we did because we both love this one, it's definitely a keeper.
Once my 330d sells I might get a mk5 R32 for a couple of years as I've always wanted one.
By then I should be in a position to get an R estate

The pics from the thread were lost when I gave up the joke that Photobucket became.
Apart from servicing etc nothing has been done or changed.
I'm toying with upgrading the headunit to have DAB and Apple carplay, but apart from that nothing is planned.
I will get some new pics once it's washed

The 7P6 035 730E Bluetooth module gives handsfree and streaming audio.
Make sure you get the correct 730E one as other revisions don’t do everything.
You need the loom to go with it connects to the headunit and the module lives under the drivers seat in a piece of black polystyrene.
From there the loom goes to the front light unit in the roof to connect a mic.
Depending on the version of RNS510 you have got you might need a firmware update. It worked before but just displayed Bluetooth audio rather than the track. A bonus was that it also added radio text info too

Yes, the bluetooth module is under the seat from the factory, so not sure what it was stuck behind the dash?
Some people do fit them in other places, what is the part number on it?
I'm thinking my best option would be to add an MDI for ipod interface then I will have everything.
When I added bluetooth handsfree I had to code it to the car to get the menu to appear on the display between the clocks.
You can pick up the module for about 100 quid or so on ebay, then 20-30 for the loom

One of my LED side lights stopped working, so had to put the nasty piss yellow bulbs back in
I ordered some brighter LED ones to replace them, so they match the xenons perfectly now, although the pic doesn't show it too well.
I've also received an MDI and loom for the armrest. Annoyingly the charger for my coding laptop has died, so can't fit it until that arrives
