XJR X300 Race Car
Discussion
Hello Guys n Gals
Some of you may have seen my old thread on the XJ40-R Race Car. Well that car did me proud in the Toyo Tyres Jec Saloon and GT Championship and I took home 1st in Class A this year, and the car has become a great friend, gonna miss the old girl. She's now for sale!
So now that class is done n dusted, a new project is beginning. We are going to build a full on Class D supercharged X300 XJR in Class D. This will include perspex, fibreglass body work, lots of weight loss, sorted suspension, big brakes and a well sorted (400bhpish) 4.0 AJ16. Watch this space for more updates, 6 months to complete
Cheers

Hello all
Well the XJ40 is now sold, new owner intends to race the car next season which is great. Bit sad seeing it go, but onwards and upwards
With regards to why I didn't use the XJ40 and fit the R engine, it was merely because I've been told that the getting the engine in, and running would be a bit of a pig. Also the XJR already has bigger brakes etc, so out the box it's more capable. I also fancied a change after 3 years if I'm honest
Dyno day tomorrow, and the Gearbox goes in! Exciting

Mega stuff gents! Hopefully you won't need any spares
So she's partially stripped, and jsut got back from the dyno. Very strong power was made (300hp and 400nm) but afte two runs, 35hp was lost as a result of high charge intake temps, which is a common issue on these. So this will need to be addressed. Gearbox goes in next week, then it's off to Emerald for stand alone management.

Looks absolutely super, I loved the XJ40 but this is going to be even better. My daily is an X308 XJR and I've thought many times it'd become an absolute rocket ship if it went on a big diet, the spare wheel alone is ludicrously heavy. Not driven a supercharged six but I'm sure they're great, will you be trying to crack 400hp with the Eaton?
Perhaps crack 400 eventually, but for now, it'll be all about stopping and turning and learning to drive the car first

Hi All
So the cage is in (Little bit of welding to do, but almost there) and so is the racing seat.
She runs with a manual box! And it's a complete riot to drive, absolutely screams! You have to trick the old Auto inhibitor switch in to thinking the car is in park.
The rear doors have been hacked away as well, all in the pursuit of less weight
The supercharger whine just results in loss of traction on anything but a dry road. Next stop is the exhaust shop, side exit is the plan, but lets see what happens
Cheers

They are very capable on track, and so predictable. When they do slide, it's very controllable. In corners such as Paddock, you'll often notice that all the Jags are sliding through there, its the ones that are sliding the wrong way that you need to watch out for. This should be quite handful from my previous class A car (I hope)
Awesome cars mx-6. In fact I almost bought that XJ40, but it needed a clutch? In retrospect I should have bought it, I remember it was sat on XKR wheels, which I believe you sold to fund the clutch change? I used to have a matt black XJ40 on the forum, and I think we spoke before
Cheers
