I'll let the pictures do the talking, but if you're thinking of going, do it!

Very nice, don't see many R in Silver, looks good.
Thanks. Partly the reason for ordering a silver one!

I was in the camp that thought the Golf R was a bit of a dull drive; I've been in North Wales this week, on damp twisty roads it really comes into it's own. I wish i'd done it sooner. driving

Some odd 50/national speed limit usage around here though.
It was great. So confidence inspiring and stable up there. It then took my mate and I back to Sussex in comfort whilst getting 35 mpg.

That's the best colour for that car.

Times have changed now, ordered mine last week and its here already, had choice of 3 in stock as well.

Did the triangle in my m3 last year, certainly will return with the golf.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the comparison. I felt I was probably quicker acrosss the ground in the R than I would've been in my previous C4S. I guess that's progress for you!

More and more I like the Golf R and this really persuades me more. I'm glad you had a nice trip!
They're ubiquitous for a reason. It's a fantastic car.

Great photos, lovely car. I lived in North Wales for 6 years until quite recently and never did the evo triangle, though I probably drive on a few bits of it. Those photos are really making me miss the place and regret not driving the full thing!
Thanks! It's stunning up there. :-)

Very early days for me and the R, but already i would say you can cover ground far more quickly in the golf.
With that being said the m3 (e46) felt far more nimble.... Until i snapped the engine mount from hitting one of the cattle grids at speed.

Ahh rats! The grid at the top of the triangle before you hit the wooded section (assuming a clockwise angle of attack) ?

Did you go into The Groes? My local. I'm assuming that you knew it was the hostelry EVO used, hence the visit? Was there a few times to enjoy the exotics in the car park all those years ago. I agree about random speed limits. Very frustrating.
Yes, we stayed there. Know the evo history behind it too. Was good to see the pages of my favourite mag come to life!

Evo triangle, my arse !

Was driiving those roads in the 80's, what a blast they are.

Bet you can't blast it like you could then.
I'm not so sure. I was there mid afternoon on Wednesday and I saw one other car during my "laps".

Car looks great in silver and the triangle looks fantastic. I am going to make a trip over in my EVO, will likely leave early in the morning for a fresh Autumn blast.
Sounds like a good plan to me mate! You'll enjoy it. If you're going, make sure you include the roads around Snowdonia. They're equally as epic.

Had some fantastic runs over the triangle in my R. This was 3,days after pick up just as it was coming light. The car is brilliant on those roads. Just soaks up the bumps and grips.

I'm now trying to drive this as quick. More challenging and not quite as swift on these roads yett but great fun all the same.

Both look great! I like the R in white.

Not jealous, at all, honest smile

Miss living in Shrewsbury with Wales as my test track.

Mind you, did the back roads from Shrewsbury to Bala two weeks ago smile, first time in about 25 years.

Fun !
Wales is a great playground. So many different environments in one place. Alpine, moorland, open and fast, twisty and technical. I'll be going back!
