Hi everyone,

Have been a long time lurker on the forums and have been meaning to write a post on my new car for a while now.

Coming from my first car, a 2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 which I had for three and a half years, I wanted something quicker with better specification and wanted something a little different from people who I had seen on my social media; the people who have a BMW 116d Sport etc.

I saw this sitting on the front of my local Kia dealer forecourt and admittedly didn't know much about them. After doing some research, I decided (on paper at least) it was the perfect car for me and went for a test drive. Coming back from the test drive, the deal was done and this is mine.

Previously owned by Kia UK, it came with Full History, the balance of the 7 year warranty and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres all round; a sign of the car being looked after surely?

It is a 2014 Kia Pro Cee'd GT in Phantom Black. It comes with a 201 bhp 1.6 litre turbo charged petrol engine and slick six-speed manual gearbox...certainly more than enough for a 21 year-old coming from a Corsa!

Spec is pretty impressive, and includes Recaro seats, bluetooth, cruise control, 18 inch alloy wheels plus the red exterior detailing and the love or hate ice cubess DRL's.

Here are a couple of rubbish iPhone photos

I have owned the car for about 4 months now and regularly get comments from people saying how nice it looks. Value for money, I think it is brilliant and although it is not quite as quick as a VW Golf GTI or Vauxhall Astra VXR, it can still perform very well and surprises a few people too!

I am averaging around 28-30 mpg of mainly town driving but got around 40.5 mpg on a run from South Hampshire to Bath the other month.

Will try and keep this thread as updated as possible, hope you enjoy!

Always liked these, great car OP I'd certainly pick that over a Fiesta ST or Corsa VXR. I'll keep an eye out for you around Portsmouth.
Thank you! Where abouts in Portsmouth are you?

I like these, great looking thing.
Nothing better than a black hot hatch at the age of 21, I had a black 205 GTI.
Enjoy it, good to see something different.
Thank you, I plan to enjoy it as much as I can!

We had a diesel GT as a curtesy car a few months back and it was a cracker, rear parking screen, leather etc. Yours looks very smart.
Thank you! The value for money is great I think.

A few PH's from home town - happy days - I'm in Old Portsmouth - ill keep my eyes peeled for the "Smileys". Are either of you heading to the Sunday Service at Goodwood - sadly my M3 has killed its battery and being the battery is only 6 months old I want to get it replaced rather than buy another, so likely to be heading over in the 330i.
I will keep an eye out for PH Smileys too! I'm in Gosport more than I am in Portsmouth, not too sure about heading down to the PH Sunday Service yet, if I do go it will be Sunday'

Took the car over to the Isle of Wight today, some great roads to drive down and surprisingly good fuel economy too!

Really lovely looking car.

Although I've never driven one, it might be a shame they don't have a bit more power.

I'm a real big fan of the 'alternative' hot hatch, which in my mind is this, the 308 GTi, Suzuki Swift Sport etc. but they always seems to be overlooked on review. Maybe that might be because they're not as good, but I dunno....
They are fanastic to look at and when you consider they are Kia's first attempt at making a warm/hot hatch, and also considering I came out of a 1.2 Corsa, I think they're pretty good!

That is just my opinion and maybe for the next generation, they should shoe horn the 2.0 Turbo petrol (from the Optima GT) in there. spin
