Evening all having looked through the readers cars section, thought I'd throw my own up.
Going to be a little long winded as I'm catching up on 12 months of updates
This replaced a 2001 Peugeot 106 1.1 which covered 25k miles and cost me £13.50 for a oil and filter change.
Bought the ignis around last Christmas, was originally looking for a ignis sport but this popped up literally 30 secs from my parents house. The history, condition and price won me over.
So first off there was a worryingly bad wobble apparent on the motorway. Quick look diagnosed a N/S/F tyre unevenly worn and both rack ends in a bad way. This was fixed with new racks ends & track rod ends and swapped the spare over.
As id been looking at ignis sports I decided to look at local breakers. Went down to one 5 mins from mine. Managed to pick up recaro fishnet interior and the enkeis alloys for £100.
The interior was swapped out, the wheels never made it onto the car as I refurbed them and sold them for £250.
Second number dialled turned out to be an old college friend! He told me to come up and take what I wanted. I left with sport shocks and lowering springs, carbon trim for inside, leather steering wheel and both headlights for £130 I would of taken full car to break but had nowhere to store it. The steering wheel and carbon fascia were fitted, the suspension and lights again never made it onto the car and sold for £150.
Ive since added sport door cards to interior the aim being to make it a little nicer place to be.
With the profit of parts sold burning a hole in my pocket. I decided to service the car at 100k replacing oil and filter, air filter, plugs.
The biggest expense has-been 4 new tyres replaced with evergreen 165/70/14 for £100
A rear wheel bearing has failed and been replaced for £33.
Anyone who knows these cars will know the front arms are a pig to replace. The bushes seize on to the bolt going through the chassis. One side fell off, however the other side snapped the captive nut inside the chassis leg. Had to burn a hole reweld the captive and then plate the chassis leg back up. The job was a pig but parts cost was £37 for two arms and £11 for 4 bolts from suzuki.
Ive had the car now about a year put 14k miles on it and have to say it's won me over. The bodywork is peppered in scuffs, dents and keymarks. Im using this as a Base point to learn to do bits bodywork wise as quite frankly it can't get any worse.

Few little niggles over the past 12 months are caliper slider pins seized, alternator belt need adjusting.
Probably looking at another 12 months behind the wheel of this so I'll be doing few bits here and there just to keep me busy really

Yeah the recaros are a really nice place to sit. In all fairness they are probably worth more than the car!
Anyway been talking to the boss (missus) and it's been agreed if I'm serious about a career change then we really don't want another monthly/lease cost every month hanging over us. So I'm keeping till everything financially is a little more sure footed, ive been allocated a small fund each month to make it my own.
Few plans in my head
Sump, brake pipes, Arb bushes need attention sooner rather than later.

I was close to going for a sport but the combination of low price(£300), distance(literally 2mins from parents house) and a full suzuki history upto 98k (when I purchased it) swung it for me. I was looking for a really cheap daily while we save for a house.

Showing just under 119k miles now. Sump is surviving still. Brake pipes were cleaned up with sand paper and then grease applied to minimise corrosion.
Bought a set of headlights to split and modify black inside. Again never made it onto the car and were sold on. Ive done three sets now and before they get swapped onto my car. I've received an offer too good to turn down.
Finally came across a blue colour coded wing mirror from a sport. Didn't realise how different the non sport models are. Even the bloody wing mirror wiring is different. Need to strip the mirrors down and use the colour coded covers on my current mirrors.
Not sure on fuel tank capacity but I run till its off the gauge empty and get 31 litres in it. This gives me between 300-320 miles each fill. Not sure on mpg figures I'm sure someone can work it out accurately.
I'll prob wash it one day this week. It passes the 10ft test so I do try and throw a sponge at it every couple of weeks

They do a 5Dr version which looks even more like a spak mobile than this. Even do a 4wd version with a 100hp 1.5 twin cam. It's certainly no looker but it does its job adequately. I bought this 18 months ago on the basis that if I got 6 months out of it I'd be happy. Think it owes me around 600ish all in at present which if you divide by 18. It's peanuts to run per month.
A house purchase and possible career change mean I just don't want the pressure of a finance /lease payment hanging over me every month.
A brand new car would be great but not a necessity at this time.

Car let me down for the first time in 18 months the other night. Went to start it up. Cut out straight away and refused to start. Traced it to a snapped main earth lead. Made a new one in work next day.
Car seemed to go down hill rapidly then in space of a week, nearside front shocker collapsed and sump finally sprung a leak.
The sump is only available genuine from suzuki at over £100.
So it's the end for this shed. What was supposed to last a few months has made it 18 months/22k miles. It's left a lasting impression so much so that I introduce to you the new daily......
I'll chuck up a thread for the new car when I can.
