I've had a 240z for several years now and it keeps evolving. Started as a standard car bought from ebay in 2006. I drove the car around for a while after a minor restoration then decided it needed a bit more power. As I was on a tight budget I bought myself a lexus soarer as a parts car for £400. Then set about swapping the 2.5lt twin turbo engine and manual box in 2010. This only took a few weeks and I was back on the road. The car has continually evolved since then and is still evolving now with a recent swap to single turbo. Here's a few pics:

Wow!, Thanks for all the response.

Yes, I have taken it to spa classic and tracked it for many years. I drive the car a lot as its so well mannered on the road and also do quite a bit of drag racing. It currently runs a 1/4 mile in 11.10s@132.5mph. I'll try and work out how to add more than one picture.

A little more about the car. It's not that light and comes in at 1284kg with me and half tank of fuel. Exactly 642kg on each axle which really help the predictability on a race track. There are quite a few video's of the car on you tube if you search for thejohnymd. I've also got a website, www.240z.me.uk which has pictures of this and some of the 240's I have. My collection grew to 13 last year but I have been persuaded to let a few go.

I've been tweaking the car over the years and everything has been done by myself, including painting the car in 2010, as I've never got any money to pay someone else. Plus I enjoy the engineering side of it and getting the most I can by spending as little as possible. The engine has never been apart and has stayed in standard from apart from a pair of cams I put in a couple of years ago. It makes 394hp at the flywheel and 429hp with a little nitrous on the drag strip. On my annual trips to Spa I get mid 30's to the gallon so its nice and economical to get where I'm going.

With my quest to get in the 10's I have recently installed a Life Racing F88 ECU, GT3582 turbo and 800cc injectors. Got the car back up and running last weekend and spent a few hours mapping the ECU on a drive around Essex. I've still got a few jobs to do over the weekend in preparation for a rolling road session at Northampton motorsport next Thursday.

I've also got a couple of other projects on the go. One is a 280z with lexus V8 and the other is my 240z runaround which I've fitted throttle bodies and Life F88 to.

I have been known to break a few things. Snapped a couple of drive shafts and knocked out several prop bearings. When things break I tend to replace with something stronger and when that break I go up another notch. The driveshafts and stub axles are made from Chromalloy but I'm still using 30year old CV's so they will need changing at some point. The diff is from a later 260z but has a quaife fitted.

Yes I did go to Le mans in it last year and I may have stretched its legs on the motorways.

I go to North Weald pretty regular and my mate has the M3 powered orange 240z. Mine is running the lexus straight 6 and not the v8. Although I am in the middle of putting the 3uz lexus v8 in another s30.
