Having just bought a 540i touring I'll be watching this project intently.

What are the figures for a bi-turbo? Don't know anything about them TBH.

Chuck, are you going to leave it cosmetically the same with just the nuthouse engine lurking?
Its getting a front alpina spoiler, undecided on the stripes. Wanted to put the interior in too but someone swiped it from the car before i bought it.

Why LHD? Just because of the donor? Looks like a cool project either way, keep us updated biggrin
I'd imagine there are clearance issues between the steering colulm and turbos/exhaust manifolds that wouldn't fit on a RHD car.
yes

The donor Bi turbo is currently under a foot of snow, and they can't get it into the workshop

Things should happen next week, or some arses are going to get kicked

Some progress:

Diff cooler mounted behind rear bumper, seems to have a knock in the accident, but bent back into shape ok

Long range auxillary fuel tank mounted in boot, extra 20L taking total to 110L, yes thats over £120 a fill up

Rad, intercooler and oil cooler off.

All doors, bonnet and bootlid off also.

Also reomoved the exhaust and the main tank. Next job is to drop the drivetrain off.

Thought the standar E34 tank was "just" 80 litres? That what the handbook says for my 540i..
M5 tank is 90L, and I think thats what is fitted to this.

Or maybe its an 80L main and 30L reserve, I'll check
