I bought the car which is a 1994 rev3 GT turbo tintop about september 2009 with only a few mods such as

Toms bumper
Kei office side skirts
18" OZ pl classe alloys
Recaro seats trimmed in leather
Custom exhaust
Baily bov

Looking like this...

I drove the car for about 6 months with no problems untill the front shock and topmount shat its self.
In that time i added a decat pipe, blitz airfilter, momo wheel and boss and a boost, oil temp and oil pressure gauges which i mounted in the heather vents (which i cant find progress pics of!)

The 2 spent the next few months sitting in the garage. So i decided it was time to start working on her. I started by stripping off everything i didnt want being the bumper, and skirts mainly and bought some quad headlights and a full border kit. The kit was from replikit and fits very well.

I then had them all fitted by Ant at NV AUTOSTYLING. The same guy that was behind the creation of the NV LeMans bodykit. NV have been off the scene for a while after him and his business partner went their seperate ways but he is now coming back on the scene and as he built my first mr2 i wanted him to do this one also as he is a very friendly top guy who knows his 2's

I found an issue with the custom exhuast as it was at such an angle that it caused an issue with the rear spats. So i cut it off and bought a SHEEPDOG by PROF exhaust

The sheepdog exhaust does sound great, nice and quiet on tick over but a nice deep throaty tone once on throttle

I then bought some more parts to complete the look im after.

Driftworks style drift spoiler

Border fiberglass bonnet

Bomex electric mirrors, i had to wait ages to find a set of these. They look great on the car and one of the best mirrors for a 2 in my opinion

I also bought a forge bov with adaptor to fit straight onto the hotpipe like it should be

Next up it was time for the wheels! I wanted to keep them as i think they are fantastic with 8x18 up front with 225 tyres and 9x18 on the rear with 255 tyres.

They had quite a bit of corrosion and scuffs on the removable polished lips. As these wheels are discontinued its very hard to find the polished lips. I did eventually find a front set but no rears and a set of centre caps which were also shagged!

The rear lips on the car were still in good condition with only a few very minor nicks which were able to be polished out!

Referbed!

I also bought some driftworks internal spline wheel nuts and locking nuts

While the wheels were off i fitted my black billies to replace the shagged set and added a set of APEX 30mm lowering springs to give a better stance

While the wheels were off the bloody snow hit didnt it! at the time my car was sitting on 4 axle stands in front or my garage and the road was total ice! I only had 1 space saver and my brother in law lent me his from his n/a. Then Dan89 came to my rescue and lent me a pair of standard wheels so i could get it out the way and back into the garage!

Then i turned my time to the dirty engine bay! Whipped a load of parts off

Had them powdercoated at Powder+ in sawston

Now this is how the car sits at the moment, the lights had to come off for the mot but will be going back on and the bonnet isnt fitted yet

It's certainly coming together - what's happening with the side strips, going all black or painting the front ones white?

Are the wheels the same white as the rest of the car?

Black roof in the plan?

How's IMOC these days? New forum up yet?
Its getting there! I still have lots to post up as im further then this build thread shows at the moment! Ive figured out the photobucket posting! So ill fix all the broken links.

They are black because they are uk spec ones to replace the jap spec toblerones and will be going white. Nope the plan is for all white!
No the wheels are not but the car is going to be resprayed a new white which wont be as creamy as the original colour and closer to the colour of the wheels if not nearly exact!

Its ok, still there lol. Um not that i know of, well it hasnt changed in the past year!

One thing I noticed. You may want to get some wider rubber for those wheels. They look a little stretched.
There is a reason for that mate, the wheels are 8x18 up front with 225 width tyres and 9x18 rear with 255! rears. You cant fit any bigger then that under there!

I think alot might be a bit over the top but yes there was some surface rust on the sills from where the skirts were on. I did inspect all the sills after the skirts were removed and are all in very good condition with only some minor patches of surface rust. They were all tackled before the new skirts went on. Thanks for your concern though wink

I love your enthusiasm for the project, nice one...

like others, the look isn't my style, but i like that you are building it yourself, to your spec, so to hell what others think.

It doesn't mean that i/we won't take the pi.ss though, friendly like...
Thanks mate. Well like you said you cant please everyone but as long as its what you like sod it!

Ok everyone the moment you have all been waiting for!!! (or not) First test fitting pics of the new parts.

The final parts of my project, carbenfibre creations Abflug arches and F40 style engine cover.

These are the last parts to complete the look for my car. Off to Ant at NV Autostyling in about 2 weeks for fitting and paint!

Right today i set about giving Ant less work by cutting and sanding the arches a little to make them sit better. I also had a fiddle with the engine cover.

Right, the engine cover sat a little high. Easy fix as i was told ill need to lower the catch a little to make it sit tight.

So i did.

Hopefully here you can see where i used a file to extend the bolt holes.

Job done!

Ok here you can see where the skirts and spats foul on the arches.

So what i did was unscrewed the spats and skirts and slid the arches behind them, then marked up there they overlapped for cutting.

Ok then after cutting and the arches look much better now. Once at the bodyshop i intend to have them blended in.

Not a bad days work! Started stripping bits to take to Ant next week so he can get started on preping parts

That's horrible, sorry. Do you actually drive it with the the front plate propped up inside the windscreen, or was that just temporary?
Thats fine, im not building it to please you! What do you think? Its a project car and hasnt been driven for 18 months, start reading at post 1 and you wont need to ask silly questions!

Not my cup of tea at all, but as long as you like it then fair play.

I'll be interested to see what type of job the bodyshop do with it, because it certinly needs some work to "bring it together". I do think the arch extensions have made the wheels appear a little limp in girth now though, especially at the rear.

What colour is it going to be?
Well done, as stated it was a first TEST FIT and the wheels will be recieving hubcentric spacers to bring them flush again.

I love MR2 Turbo's, I really do. I've owned an NA and a turbo MR2. Not keen on the engine cover, wing and lights. The rest I can't say until it's fitted properly. I've been in and around the MR2 and Jap scene a lot, and was on the stand at the very first MR2DC show stand with my black MR2, and the kitted ones seldom look good. Sorry.

if you aren't after opinion, then say so, and I'll delete, but what with it being a forum and all!

They are sexy as fook without fettling with them.

Lovely, without the additions, in my humble opinion.

Hi mate, nice mr2!

I do like stock mr2's also but do prefer some cars kitted. I have been into jap cars for about 8 years now which started with my first mr2! I like being different to every other car that rolled off the factory line.

Like i sad before it wont be to everyones taste but it is to mine. I have thought long and hard about every part i have bought for the car and i am happy with the results so far. As im sure you can understand the car has cost me alot of money and had countless hours spent on it by me.

It better then making the car rusty, throwing some stickers on it and calling it custom!

TIT!

Just for everyone else reading this. I am open to constructive criticism but the rude hurtfull comments are getting a little boring now. Did your mothers never tell you 'if you havent anything nice to say, say nothing at all'?

If i read something i dont like i just dont post as it isnt achieving any thing apart from possibaly hurting the feelings of the poster.

Thanks

There's a more shapely version of the engine cover floating about somewhere that looks a lot nicer and it's perspex too. I cannot for the life of me remember who makes it though. RyanG's TRD2000GT had one if it jogs any memories?
Yes the original version was by ASK Sport. This is the very first of a better updated version of that. The original had hinges at the top and tended to sag in the middle where as this one has a lip that runs around the whole lid. What this lip does is makes it possable to simply slide the lid into place and just click onto the original catch, nice and simple and it sits extremly tight and will not come off without the use of hinges!

There have been some perspex versions of the original made they are still the same shape, i dont know of any other type.

It will all come together once it has been to the body shop. There are alot of parts not fully fitted, spacers are yet to be fitted but it is getting there! As for number plate ill be getting a smaller plate made up which will be fitted in the middle, the indicators are going in the side ducts!

Right here we go! The car is still in the bodyshop after problems, delays and just about everything else that can happen!

Im afraid that i havent been able to get pictures of everything because of the delays i didnt have enough holiday left to take the extra days.

Ant doesnt weld so the car had to be cut end welded else where, here are the rear arches after the welding

I decided to have my carbon spoiler painted with the car as im not a fan of carbon

Once the car was back from the welders Ant set about getting the front arches to sit perfectly and also blend the front of the arches into the bumper and cut them so the lines carry on and they can also be removed.
