Looking for 'accepted wisdom' regarding running in of new discs and pads on a 997 (steel discs). Is it a case of just running around in the car normally or should I be braking as hard as possible from 100mph 5 times on the trot to run 'heat cycles' through the discs, as has been suggested to me.

Any valid opinions appreciated. Ta.

Interesting stuff chaps - keep it coming. I haven't driven the car since the new bits were fitted (due to work etc), but I have had time to consider where best locally to do the 'speed-up, brake-hard routine several times...

Quick update: Popped out the other night in the 911 to my private motorway. Warmed the brakes thoroughly by slowing from around 90 to 50 several times, then did 4 or 5 hard brake applications from around 100 down to 30 (I'll not mention the unit of speed measurement on a public forum...) and drove at a steady 60 or so for 15 miles or so to cool everything down.

Have used the car over the week-end, mostly fairly gently 'cause of traffic, but with a bit of vigour here and there and the new set-up is feeling good. Thanks for all the input.
