Now i know this is the Porsche forum and the advice maybe slightly biased but i wondered what peoples thoughts were on R8 v8 vs 991 c2s. I currently have a 60 plate 997 c2s which i use as a weekend car, which i have owned for approx 6 months but ive got that "itchy feet" feeling and feel its time to move on. Ive driven both the R8 and the 991 and whilst the 991 was the better car to drive , I love the way the R8 looks. As its my weekend car I just thought that taking the R8 out at the weekend might be just that little bit more special. The deals offerred on both are quite good. R8 lists 102k but can be bought for 83k and the 991 c2s lists at 95k but have been offerred it for 85k. Im awaiting the flaming fron the Porsche diehards !!

991 -good spec.

Painted air scoops
Bose
Light pack
Sport ex
PCM

Etc

Pex price relys on month end sale but not price of car. They have a compound and showroom full to the brim with unsold 991!

Drove R tronic, a truly awful experience, but manual car was ok. A lambo or ferrari worries me re servicing cost/ repair bills. Any of those 2 would need to be older to get within budjet. I have to make the decision tomorrow if i want the R8 and I still dont have a clue what to do. My head says 991 , my heart R8!!

Well its all over. New titanium grey r8 v8 special edition arriving on Tuesday. Having now had a cayman s and 2 911's it was time for a change. The 991 is a truly fantastic car and if i was going to use my car as a daily driver it would have had no competition what so ever. The R8 is totally impractical, but im not using it to go to Europe, or take the family away in, so that really didnt play a part in my decision. Ferrari/lambo repair bills scare me too much to go down that route. All of this, coupled with an excellent discount and a pleasurable buying experience made my mind up. Still according to my wife, it will only last 6 months "like the last one you bought" so i can always head back to Dick lovetts and poke around the 991 again. Thanks for all the advice. Much appreciated.

Hokum, it's not a pre reg, but a car Audi uk had in stock. Can't wait for it to arrive. 997 off to Cameron sports cars tomorrow. Will be sad to see it go but I'm sure the sight of the r8 on the drive will make up for that!!

list price of the car approx 102k and i paid 82.2k, for a new, unreg car with all the extras. I thought that was ok!! they threw in a service and tyre discount as well. Made it slightly cheaper than the 991 (by about 2 k). From my experience now is the time to by a 991 or r8 as the discount offerred to me were fantastic.

I suspect the facelift model helped the discount as did the end of the 3rd 1/4 for the dealer being due. Still they offerred 3k more for my pex than most of the other dealers did , it would have been rude not to buy it ;-)!!. Audi uk put a lot into the deal apparently as this was the last manual special edition for sale in the country.
