Hi, i have a 997 C2S in Slate Grey and have just got back from holiday to find my car has somehow developed large sections of scratches on the bonnet/roof/drivers side wing and both front and rear windscreens. The marks are completely random and in places are 4-6inches wide/long, looking like sandpaper has been run across the paintwork, unfortunately being away for 2 weeks we have no idea how this happened and our neighbours didn't witness anything and we are left to sort out the mess.

The scratches look deep enough to rule out any form of paint correction polishing so i guess i am left to look at respray options, i thought would post a thread to ask for suggestions on best ways to move forward and any rough idea on costs involved. Obviously claiming on insurance is the main option available to me but this could be counterproductive in the long run with increased premiums etc

Any ideas please?

This is also one of my dilemmas, the damage to the windscreens could potentially be sorted through insurance with minimal excess, although like you say may make more financial sense to bite the bullet and get all fixed at the same time.

Any suggestions on bodyshops i could approach, a recommendation with evidence of high quality work in the past would be ideal, i'm not against using a smaller independent resprayer but need to try and guard against a poor quality job as it could make the matter even worse!

The scratches look white in most places so assuming they have gone down to metal. I doubt polishing them out will gain much
