Hello,

I’m considering a manual Boxster as my next daily driver and would appreciate some advice.

I have a budget of £15k which will buy me a nice 987 2.7. I will be looking for a car from 2006 onwards with the upgraded IMS bearing.

However I have noticed that the gen 2 cars are now down to around £20k for the 2.9. If I wait a few months I can save more money and the later cars will also fall slightly in value making the choice between a 2.7 and a 2.9 much closer.

I don’t need a 3.4 Boxster ‘S’ as the base cars have more than enough power for the public road and I would prefer as new a car as I can afford. 17” wheels are also fine and I don’t feel the need for PASM. The only nice to have would be leather seats.

What are the main differences between the 2.7 and 2.9? Would you recommend going for the cheaper 2.7 or the later more expensive 2.9?

Are the service intervals on the 2.7 and 2.9 cars the same?

What would a typical service cost at a Porsche indie?

Thanks in advance
