Prospective 991 GT3 Owners Discussion
Discussion
There is a Boxster 981 thread for prospective owners which I found very useful for discussing options available on the cars and seeing images of cars as they arrived, although I'm sure this audience is much smaller I'm sure it will be a comfort for those of us with a long wait ahead.
I've placed my order with Leicester OPC and am 7th in the queue to the best of my knowledge so will be looking at the second batch of cars which I'm not totally unhappy about but ask me again in November when some lucky peeps are taking delivery of their GT3's! Leicester OPC have invited me along to the GT3 Cup racing at Donington in April to ease my pain which is very good of them, and I also have an invite to the Porsche Experience Centre to drive a 911 which I might just take them up on
I think I have made my mind up on colour and am now settled on Guards red as below, my build is http://www.porsche-code.com/PE8AJ2N4
So if anybody needs a bit of GT3 love to help them through the months ahead to make themselves feel a little closer to their new purchases then fire away!
First person to mention the lack of manual is a cock knocker, well second after me that is LOL!!!

Would it matter, if say every one that had paid the 10k deposit irrespective of were they are in the queue, were able to receive there car this year, as in bums in seats for 31.12.13…..mmm interesting
this is my thinking, it looks like Porsche have geared up for manufacturing larger numbers.Alpinestars said:
So do I. It would make the outgoing MANUAL car more valuable
Yes I agree completely, I have a 430 Scuderia and the values on these are rock solid, if anything going up since the introduction of the 458 which is almost certainly a better/faster car, so the same will apply to the 997/991 I would guess.DiscoColin said:
Reading the spec, I assume that this is to be a keeper and strictly not for any track use? Should be a very nice machine.
Yes exactly the cars move towards a slightly more refined road vehicle has prized me away from ordering 458 with an absolute shed load of cash left over, meaning I can afford to keep my Scuderia as well, win, win :-)Edited by DiscoColin on Friday 29th March 14:51
sidsideways]Back to cruise control I have owned accidently but never used [yes I know ] but points avoided is a good reason for it so does it eliminate right foot use [and choice of acceleration said:
or can you drive normally up to selected speed?
I use the one on the Range Rover constantly because it the buttons are really nicely positioned on the steering wheel, where a quick press of the thumb will set my speed, for example as I enter castle donington at the airport end I set my cruise to 30mph and drive the length of the village to my office, lights an d traffic permitting. If I understand you correctly, no you can't drive normally up to your chosen speed that would be a speed limiter, but I frequently set my cruise on the motorway and use the speed up and down buttons, keeping with the flow of traffic.
Porsche CEO says they expect 10% of all 911's to be GT3's in North America, so I think it says it all with regards volumes lower residuals I guess, but I've never bought a car to make money, I buy 'em to drive 'em :-)

Yes I like it, like it a lot, I was considering it myself, but I need to see the colours in the flesh which is going to cause me a problem or two I can see
This aqua blue looks nice!
Leicester have a white 997 GT3 in at the minute and it looks fantastic, the red press images look awesome but the guards red 991 in the Leicester showroom put me right off it doh!!
