check your tyres

hi ! newbie here on PH, my first post of many - so here goes - after reading the thread on 'do you wait till 1.6mm before changing your tyres' i decided to check my treads on my 2010 997.2 turbo cab, they are bridgestone potenzas with 9300 miles on them, viewing from the back of the car they looked ok but after checking with tyre guage i have 3mm on outer edge 4mm middle 1.5mm inner edge and fabric cord showing on the last 5mm of the inner edge on both back tyres !! - the only way i saw this damage was with a torch, guess i could have had a major blow out at any time ! have ordered a new set of michelin SS from Event Tyres (cheapest fitted price i could find)

i always keep the rear tyre pressure at 2.7 bar (cold) and have a pressure monitor system - it is just shocking to only notice the inside tyre wear with a torch and head under the rear bumper !
