I'm tired of reading the other thread re GT3, lets get going on a 991 RS one.

Kicking off, when will it launch, how good will it be and how different to the 991 GT3. And cost ?

PS. this thread unlike the other one is not really for discussion about whether you want your cup holders in carbon etc !

Glenn , to answer your question, I'm open minded. I expect it will be good, very good, but am worried that Porsche will produce it in larger number than heretofore. Having PDK would not be an issue for me if the rest of the car was ok. Also, if Porsche pulls the piss with the pricing I'd vote no.

No chance at all, I'm third on my OPC's list, they took my deposit of 10 K Jan 2014 and they will only get one, I'd say all are spoken for. Nothing to do with deposits or letters of intent. The number of cars will be very small. But like everyone else on here I would love to be proved wrong !

Re the Euro 6 rules, my friend got a 991 GT3 and reading through the Certificate of Conformity it says Euro 6 compliant, so what's the problem ? And can you tell Herr Hatz to be more clear when he says completly new engine in future !

I'm going to Geneva for the day on Sunday just to see the car in the flesh . Perhaps the cooking GT3 has moved the game on so far that the gap between the two to a short head? We will see !

Flew from Dublin to Geneva to see the RS in the flesh today. Definetly Salmon Orange colour to my eye. Was not able to get an answer to any of the questions re PTS,etc already raised here. Though did say Euro production will stop in November having started in April.

I think that the spec of the car says it all. It's built and designed with little compromise, the aero and suspension are a big leap forward as are the tyres ( Cup 2s way better than previous cups ) , power a bit less than I hoped for and only four colours at launch and for us Europeans no Factory Collection as it's winter delivery mostly. That said I'm looking forward to the Autocar Test. That's always the clincher for me.

I wonder will Porsche run the car at the NBR 24 like they did in 2010, it finished 11th? Then with the recent accident there may not be a NBR 24 this year.

Yes, changes were minimal, none of which were performance enhancing except using slicks. I was there and saw it in the flesh, it might hace been 10th rather than my 11 th. Hopefully if the race is on Porsche will run the car. IMHO this is what real sports car racing is about.

Has anyone with a previous RS or GT 3 actual info on living with the Lithium Battery, how long do they last etc ? And why not fit an aftermarket lightweight battery for less than quarter the price ? Retain the Porsche standard battery for those times it's needed.

How much do they charge you for the European Navigation, surely it will not be cost effective and you know your way blindfold to the Ring !

I'm wondering re the full sports buckets ( the 918 ones ) and cannot work out why not to get the adjustable buckets. They look very alike and there is not a huge weight premium with the bonus that the backrest adjusts for those long journeys' to ..........the Ring .

Would not the faster change time be a result of the shorter ( faster ) travel of the paddle?

Has anyone tried to select the fire extinguisher on the configurator? When I try this a box hops up saying " you must remove Club Sport Spec already selected " Yet on my Gen 2 997 RS I had both . Maybe it won't fit with the seats.
