Dark Interior needs lightening
Discussion
OK...
So interior of my 996 turbo is bloody dark ... think it needs lightening up a little.
Was thinking of having the seat backs and transmission tunnel painted to match the exterior.
Has anyone had this done, whats it look like - and how much did it cost?
Think it would make no end of difference internally, though might see if i can buy the parts off ebay and then swap them over so can go back to OEM if need be.

Or that plastidip stuff?
Quite a good idea though. With no sunroof too, my car is pretty dark inside.
My plans are to get the wheel re-trimmed in alcantara and have a red flash at the top as per the GT3 RS 4.0.
I'm then going to get the red seat belts from the Porsche catalogue (quite an extravagant purchase as it involves buying the clever stuff involved with the seatbelts too). All that so i can tie things in with the red calipers!

A cheaper alternative is to talk to Quickfit SBS (www.quickfitsbs.com) in north London. They are a renowned seatbelt specialist, and can (safely!) change the webbing on your existing belts to any colour you like. I'm half tempted to have mine changed to yellow to match my PCCB calipers!Pete
I painted the dash trim line in guards red on my cayman.

I can't recall if the 996 has a similar pice to do ? But I think seat beats, dials and centre consul would be worth having a look at changing.

I've had the seatbacks done on mine, very pleased with the result and it wasn't dear. The original rubberised finish was crap, showed every mark and felt cheap. After talking it over with the body shop we did the seatbacks first, thinking centre console might be a bit too much. I'm now going to leave the centre console I think, the seatbacks brighten it up enough for me on their own, and everytime I walk up to the car from behind I'm glad I had them done Ben at Finish First, Horsham did the job for me. I spent ages trying to find painted setbacks on ebay, they very rarely come up, and all the seats on ebay seemed to have scuffed backs so I found looking for already painted ones a waste of time.So interior of my 996 turbo is bloody dark ... think it needs lightening up a little.
