I have noticed a slight undulation in the brightness of the dash and lights etc when the car is running (2004 996 GT2). I was going to replace the voltage regulator as a starting point. I believe the Porsche part number is 000 043 206 37 and the Bosch equivalent F 00M 145 225.

Any recommendation on a cost effective place to purchase? I'm happy to go with the Bosch part as it seems quite a bit less expensive.

Thanks guys.

Might be worth trying a regular Bosch distributor as you suggest.

£60 plus VAT from Type 911 as the link above.

Tried the local Bosch Agent (Shorts in Cardiff). They are £28 plus VAT. Bargain!

The part number was different but is that an alternative suitable part?

I've already ordered the part locally (F 00M 145 225), but now having second thoughts - have I ordered the correct part?

have you checked the operating voltage with a voltmeter?
No I haven't, although given there appears to be a variation in the output I thought changing the regulator may be an inexpensive place to start. Plus, seems a common problem.

Bad news. The VR should have been ready for collection at my local Bosch outlet last Friday - it didn't arrive. They called back this morning to advice that Bosch have put a "technical block" on the part and couldn't advise when it would be available.

The current part number is F00M 144 136.

Thanks Pip.

I did notice those two. One was a used part from a trader with some gegative feedback on items received which didn't work. The other was, I think, in Poland.

Ended up ordering the part from Germany yestersay. Should have it in a few days.

The part arrived this morning. Awesome service from these guys...

They're based in Germany but can't complain about the speed of delivery. Ordered Wednesday, dispatched Thursday and arrived Monday.

At long last started the job this morning. A couple of small issues - the bolt holding the alternator pulley was a 15mm hex on the write-ups I'd seen. On my car it was an E14 (spline head) bolt. Had to go shopping for a suitable socket. Then the hardest bit, trying to refit the airbox....there's a definite way to do it. Took me an hour to figure it out smile

The good news is that there's no more flickering. All working as it should.
