The book figure for peak power is 7,200rpm however the soft rev limiter (when SPORT is not active) kicks in at 6,700rpm and the power starts tailing off.

Does this mean cars without Sport Chrono will never make peak power? 320BHP in the case of the Cayman S.

Hopefully there is no such thing as stupid questions...

Yes mine doesnt have SPORT either and it revs to over 7k, but by then the engine mapping is backing off completely and its time to shift up.

My point being, how can these cars make the quoted power if the engine is dying early?

I'm booked in to have SPORT retrofitted and I am looking forward to to getting rid of the girly rev limiter.

It doesnt increase the maximum revs (at least in manual form), it simply keeps fueling all the way to the rev limiter.

More revs and more fuel means more power, at least that is my understanding.
