Hi All,

Been running my 997.2 2S for about 6 weeks now, and apart from some swift driving initially, I've settled down to day to day mooching around.

I though it was drinking fuel, and when I looked at the trip computer (overall view) it's averaging 17.2mpg !!! I reset the meters a month ago (after I stopped hammering it) so I'm stumped as to why it's so low. 90% of the time I haven't even got the Sport button on.

It's a 2009 PDK with 60k on the clock and was last serviced in March 2014 at 53k.

Anyone got any thoughts as to why it's so so bad. I got the same from a 4.7 V8 Aston, and I was defo expecting to get in the 20's from the Porsche.

Just to confirm i'm talking about UK MPG here too.

Thanks all.

Just checked and yes it's UK MPG.

I've just reset it all again and will see how we get on this week. I'll be pottering around the mighty town of Milton Keynes and then i'm going to the OPC (Silverstone) on Friday morning for something else, so that'll be a decent little run to see what I average.

In general though, is anyone aware of anything mechanical which perhaps is worn which could be causing such poor MPG ? It's covered by an OPC warranty anyway so if there is an issue then they can sort it.

One of the reasons I got shot of the Aston was it was a killer to run on a daily basis (plus the Sportshift gearbox was ste smile). I'm certainly not expecting miracles, but I was hoping for an average of mid 20's TBH.

Thanks for all your input guys and girls.

Cheers

I'm also running Potenza's too, although I haven't checked the pressures yet.

I'll monitor it throughout the week and report back after my OPC visit on Friday.

Well after visiting the OPC they checked it and said nothing seems odd, although they did recommend I run it until empty then fill it with decent Super and run a manual test (as a few of you on here have also said), so that's the plan.

For the record, my time at OPC Silverstone today was good, very friendly and professional plus kept me in tea and biscuits for 3 hours. Didn't try to sell me anything, in fact they gave me an advisory on a couple of things, then promptly told me they do not need fixing at the moment, and that they wouldn't have any impact on my warranty renewal in March either (they wouldn't refuse to issue a warranty due to them), can't say fairer than that.

What about Pope's questions?
Sorry missed this.......

No I don't live on a hill and don't leave it idling at all. Milton Keynes is fairly flowing traffic too so it's not like I sit for ages at a standstill either.
