Hi all

Had my new (well, used but new to me) Cayenne for a week now.
It's a 3litre diesel, 2011.

It's from a franchised dealer but not a Porsche dealer, so its not Porsche approved used but hopefully will have some after sales service.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow but I'm intending to drive 350 miles tomorrow and need to set off very early (before they open), and wondered if I should.

So the problem:
I noticed what I thought was air con water on the driveway for a couple of days, but its staining, and now ive had a good look and I'm sure its oil.
There's a lot of it under the car in the sort of bottom tray thing under the engine, just behind the front off road guard plate thing.
to describe the amount I'd say there's a coating over the bottom tray but not lake.

I checked the oil level and it has definitely gone down at least one bar on the electric monitor since I've had it (1 week).

So I assume it is oil?

1) Could anyone indicate if they think fro this sketchy description that it is oil.

2) And if so what is it likely to be?

3) I live miles from the garage I bought it from. Would it be expected I can get a local garage to do the repair under their warranty or the RAC one it came with?

Thanks to you all in advance for any help you can give me.

JC

Oh dear frown
It's done 39k.
Getting a local garage to take a look to see what's happening.
Do u think with the RAC warranty I'll be able to get the work done at an opc.

Thanks all for your input by the way.

Thanks Phooey.

I've only had it a week :/

Not the best start.
but the garage ingot it from have said if it's just a sump seal or lose filter cap it won't need to go to a porsche specialist.

I'm guessing in the 1st three months the onus falls on them not the rac warranty?

Do you think either way I'll be able to demand it goes to porsche or not?

Thanks again smile

Thanks again for all your help.

Well the dealer just told my Mrs to activate our RAC Warranty by calling the number they supply.
I assume so we can pursue through them?
We've had the car a week and 2 days, and surely it must have had the 88 point check to get the RAC warranty?

I turned the engine on this morning too to check the oil level and its now only on one bar above minimum.
In the oil level display it was on bar 3 of 4 yesterday, (the bars between the white lines) and today after driving 1 mile total, its now on bar 1 of 4.
So it's loosing quite a bit by the looks of it.

Would that still be a seal or is that too quick a loss?
Hopefully its just a filter cap not torqued properly as someone suggested.

Fingers xed.

Rather stressful all this...thnx for your help all smile

Thanks guys.

Well we're getting the RAC to take it to a local garage to check its not anything simple.
If it's a major prob then we'll have a row to get it to a opc or specialist.

Fingers xed!
Thanks again smile

Hi all

Seems like I may be lucky with this leak.

My wife's just taken a call from the local garage.
She said they said it was just a washer that's gone.

I assume the washer from the drain plug?

So they're going to replace it.

I presume a non OPC garage is OK to do this straightforward repair?

Thanks for all your help...am seriously thinking about paying the extra for the Porsche check and warranty now though!
