wow, just reading the specs of the new R8 V10 Plus.

610BHP, 9,000rpm red-line V10 NA Engine, 4WD - £127k (I assume £150k all in).

I don't think Porsche have a car which directly competes with it in that price bracket ? Come to think of it, neither does ferrari. What is Porsche's strategy on this? surely the 991 GTS does not have the onions to compete with this new car ?

nim: my favourite mag, Evo, they group test the r8 v10 plus against the 458 and the mclaren. more than once I recall. the r8 holds its own every time in the head to heads, they only tend to test the r8 v8 against th 991 and I don't recall a sweeping victory for the Porsche. on the technicals, the r8 GT was a very competent car turning in some great times.

Mr. Meaden swears by the r8 (albeit manual), I trust his opinion and I find the new external and internal styling appealing. I think the key thing though is the engine, it surely outclasses anything Porsche currently have in the 911 toolbox. the specs look so good, even against the 488 gtb.

I have always enjoyed listening to the r8 at Sunday service but have lamented the seats, luggage space and mpg (I tour a lot and these are important elements), I have some seat time under my belt in both r8 v8 variants (unlike the mclarens) and I was not sold but I am willing to give the new car another go on launch because of the engine.

Now is it me or are the new R8, the new Audi TT, the 991 and the Cayman all in danger of morphing in to essentially the same shape?
The R8 is one of those cars that looks completely different in real life than in photos. It looks like a supercar from the outside, its just the interior which lets it down on that front.

LOL IMA.

PH have posted the R8 pricing versus the Porsche Turbos.

'the entry level 540hp V10 R8 starts at £119,500 which, by one of those weird twists of fate, is just over a £1,000 less than a 520hp Porsche 911 Turbo... The 610hp R8 Plus starts at £137,500, a 911 Turbo S ... £142,120.'

Original pre-2015 prices: R8 V8 from £93,735; R8 V10 plus from £126,835. 997 Turbo: £107k ish and 997 Turbo S - £123,263.

really love a Plus as a daily atm in Suzuka Grey.
Looks like a slightly lighter version of Porsche Fashion Grey.
