Turbo S in the canyons..

Would be even faster if both sides of the road used when visibility allowed (or if it had been a 991gt3 )
This is just a Sunday afternoon cruise up and down Piuma, no need to try and find a place to wreck so the idea was to be smooth and stay in my lane...Ya never know what or who could be around the next corner..
Tunnel vision is the rule on these roads.. After I look at the video I can see all the places I don't want to muck up..
Smooth is quick and the tires are amazingly quite even on the rough road surface....
The more I drive the Turbo S the more I am impressed with the lack of rear weight bias I can feel in the twisties, it really feels like the Rs211 in the corners... The AWD and four wheel steering make this the best handling Porsche ever....
Funny that the only GT3s I ever see are at Cars and Coffee gatherings, why is that ?

what about the white one that Magnus walker overtook you in?
Right, he did pass me crossing the double yellow line while I was behind another car traveling 35mph... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyAwATPr7IM

I think you're doing really well still getting out there at your age.

It looks like you are turning in too late for many of the corners. I noticed this in one of your exige videos.
Turning in too late would cause squealing tires and steering corrections.... Not me Last thing I want to do is cross that double yellow line into a blind corner too soon..Must be easy riding shotgun instructor on the internet and I guess you know how fast I'm going with the car making a nice 17psi in between those corners...
Please post up a good mountain driving video of yourself so we all can see what a pro does on a rough road surface at speed....

On public roads that is the attitude and the way to enjoy a sports car withotu messingup your day/life or anyone else's. Ignore the backseat 'experts'.Ya never know what or who could be around the next corner..
Here is a little drive video from this afternoon with sound... I'm not too crazy about the off throttle exhaust burble popping. I wish Porsche didn't add that to the tuning to make it sound sporty, it's just annoying ...
Enjoy..

Thanks the car feels like I'm cheating every time I enter a tight corner. The all wheel steering is so nice when you have so much torque mid corner...
Respect to you for being out there and doing it on what look to be great roads (rather than just posing like so many do) respect too for taking the time to make the vid and posting it Impressive video quality too Buuut ......... It all looks just a bit too "easy" and lacking in any sense of engagement or for that matter any real input on your part. That's not a criticism of you, your driving, or your choice of car, it's just that viewing it leaves me feeling very cold, it could almost be a computer game we're watching.
I'm not doubting the car's speed, and yes, I'm sure you're right, the turbo would most likely spank all but the very best drivers in a 991 GT3 (but that too is a car I don't aspire to own)
Personally I'd rather see more vids of you working harder behind the wheel of your RS211, than watch the "computer game" like videos of you behind the wheel of the 991 Turbo
Thanks for posting anyhow, it's 12 degrees and raining here currently .....
The RS211 is much quicker but it requires a different mentality { I don't want to die ] The Turbo S tells me not to wreck a $200k car driving like a fool.
Smooth is good and the more I drive the Turbo S the better I feel as a driver. Now to see if any of that smoothness translates to the RS211 on the same road..

Thanks, as I said the car feels so composed and smooth I feel like I'm cheating.. The thing in the twisties is to be as smooth as possible in order to be quick. I've tried going faster in-between corners but that then required harder braking into the next corner and then upsetting the car and driver... There is too much that can go wrong on a public road to drive recklessly..

Have you ever taken either cars on track, if not could you please explain why? The RS211 is much quicker but it requires a different mentality { I don't want to die ] The Turbo S tells me not to wreck a $200k car driving like a fool.

I really enjoy both, but if I had your kind of roads close to hand I'd be on road more than track..... just!
I find the track boring and just a place wreck yourself over time.
With all the great driving roads around LA I'd rather not see the same corner every 2 minutes....It's much more fun to take a 150 mi. drive and see countless corners.... For me it's the drive not the competition...

The last time I took the Lotus to the track it was just an Exige body with 290 whp and it pulled better lap times than a GT3 with a pro driver.
For me it's the drive not the competition...
BS For me it's the drive not the competition...
Old age
That road is in the Angeles National Forest [the hills just east of LA]..
That is a great road and I know it well, there are so many drivers roads in the area with little to no traffic on them. It still amazes me that is in LA.
You can drive for a hundred miles and not have another car in front of you the entire time...
I find myself in the car's sweet spot speed and just keep a smooth rhythm through the corners and realize later after looking at the speedo how fast my cruise speed really is. Videos do a poor job showing how rapidly the car is traveling unless the camera is mounted on the chin splitter....
Next time you are over let me know and I'll show ya the good stuff..

I take it you don't have broken centre lines over there? Apexing is perfectly acceptable and often safer if the vision ahead and your previous corner placement are done correctly.
Stay wide right on a left hander, slowing down to set the rear, clear road ahead, apex and accelerate on through as early as you like. Feels fantastic when you get it right.
That will get you a reckless driving ticket and a place on the urban outlaw hall of fame Facebook group...Stay wide right on a left hander, slowing down to set the rear, clear road ahead, apex and accelerate on through as early as you like. Feels fantastic when you get it right.
There are no apexes in the real world. If you can't stay in your own lane at all times then you need a better car, better driving skills or both...
If I can keep my car in my lane at all times everyone can... If you can't then stay home because there are faster people on bikes and cars coming from the opposite direction....
The idea is to change the Porsche owners reputation from being the worst drivers in the canyons to at least that of the average Lotus owner....

Maybe because you own a sports car that you can drive quickly and enjoy the curves in the road with rather than crossing the line as if you are driving some pice of crap like some jack off aqualung..That's the difference between drivers and posers...... Please stay home.

Sweetie, I doubt a little girl like you could stay with me through one of these canyon roads.....If you think shuffle steering is appalling you are just an F in idiot...
I guess you should maybe give this guy lessons.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrjlXs4yEp0
Oh yeah the reason you don't use the whole road is because it is unsafe but please post up a video showing me your skills on a canyon road at speed....
