Hello all,

I recently bought myself a 991 911 Turbo, my very first foray into the world of Porsche. In fact I hadn't really considered one before, this was a bit of an impulse buy (saw one in a dealer on the Monday and picked it up on the Friday!). Really pleased with the car so far, it is fantastic. Having come across from a Maserati Granturismo S, the one thing that I do miss is the noise. Not that the 911 noise isn't good, it really is. It's just the Maserati noise is something else (although it is a bit misleading if you were to do a noise versus pace comparison). In my opinion this is the only area in which the Maserati is a better car, and luckily it is one that can potentially be remedied!

My question is, has anyone upgraded to an aftermarket exhaust on their 991 Turbo? Any recommendations at all? And does doing this invalidate the warranty?

I have seen a few videos on YouTube but was keen for some first hand advice!

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Snoop, what tempted you to leave the 458 for the 911 Turbo? How have you found the move across? Was worried I would miss the exoticness of the Maserati (not that the Granturismo and 458 are comparable!) but the Porsche has been a revelation. Honestly hadn't ever considered one, I came to the conclusion I should get one based on wanting a new "supercar" but with the consideration of having a driveway and a semi detached house - a 458 or Gallardo on a driveway would be asking for trouble, so I concluded I had a choice between 911, R8 and SLS through a process of elimination! The 911 was a no brainer from there. If it wasn't for this consideration I would have got a 458, but in many respects I am glad I was "restricted" and had to choose the 911 as it has been a real eye opener.

I spoke with a friend who has a mate with an aftermarket exhaust, he said it sounds superb! However, I checked in with the chap I bought mine from and he has said it would void the warranty, which is a bit scary.....

Dear simong, did you purchase any exhaust yet ? if yes how it sounds, I need one too but confuse on what brand I have to install , I heard a lot about Akrapovic and Kline exhaust systems ? , any recommendation ? , I want the best sound, performance and weight reduce.
Good thread resurrection! As mental as it sounds, I only kept the Turbo a few months and have since had a Panamera Diesel, RS7, M6 and soon a Range Rover. Keep changing my mind and haven't quite found anything that ticks every box....

I didn't find any solution to this that wouldn't void the warranty, and given it was brand new at the time that wasn't an option. As someone has stated below there are quite a few after market options, but I didn't get further than watching a few videos on YouTube which were inconclusive for me.

Best of luck finding something!
