I'm thinking about the trackday at Donnington on the 6th June.

I notice from the Javelin website that the drive by is 98db. There are a few older posts on here suggesting that the 7.2 GT3 will exceed the noise limit?

Does anyone have any recent experience to either back this up or refute it?

I'd hate to waste the time and money......

Maybe drop Jonny at bookatrack a line to ask. Is a .2 typically any louder than a .1? 997.1s are fine there (BaT's rental and I did a day there in mine last year with no problem).
Thanks.

I don't know but this old thread...

.....would seem to suggest they are....

It seems to be the 997.2 GT3 that trips up most of the time. All the earlier GT3 variants at our day there last year were fine. It's still a good idea to short shift out of the chicane and the old hairpin though. wink

Make sure you don't drive to Donnington, as Donington is some way away.

Thanks for the responses gents.

The car was fine at the Oulton RS day but the exhaust flaps were closed on the static test. I think I'm right in saying there's no drive by monitoring there.

Sounds like if I do go I'll have to back off or at least short shift where the monitors are.

I would have thought it sensible for Porsche to leave the exhaust flaps closed unless the noisy exhaust is selected ??

If running close to the standard noise limits, to not do this would appear silly --- unless for some mechanical benefit ?
I believe the flaps open up at higher revs to help reduce heat build up. It's not just accoustics. Again, from reading on here, I also believe that artificially over riding the flaps can cause heat build up and damage to engine and exhaust parts....

That said I'm no expert.
