Morning all,

Family member wants to buy a manual 991.2 GT3, not previous Pork ownership though, he's been Aston through and through for years.

What's the best chance of him getting one? Letter of intent with a less popular dealer?

Thanks. Yeah he has a house in the Cairngorns that he intends to keep the GT3 at, so will probably go up there to order as he lives in Chelsea most of the time which is going to be a popular dealer. Aberdeen might be a good one given the way the oil industry is tanking up there.

He certainly won't regret the move if he manages to get a GT3, I know I didn't.
That's good to know! He went DB9 -> V8V -> DBS -> V12V + Newer DB9, but has just bought a new Range Rover Autobiography to replace the DB9 and fancies a change for the fun car.

So he wants the new GT3 and has a DB11 on order. Half life eh? biggrin

If we're lucky, Paris in September, but more likely Geneva in March.

Who does he buy his Astons from? Does the dealer have a Porsche dealer within the group? Go down that route if they do.
Great advice and a good idea!
Indeed, thanks. Mayfair is his dealer, which is Stratstone who I don't think do Porsche anywhere.

You'd have little to no chance from Aberdeen. I know somebody who's family are worth a few hundred million and run business in Aberdeen. He went in recently and offered to buy 3/4 new cars in one order if they guarantee that they would give him a 991.2 GT3 or RS and was told that they would not be able to help him.
Bugger.

Ah fantastic. I just went on Stratstone's website and they had lots of other Marques but not Pork.

I'll let him know and tell him to get into it.

So to get back to the point of my OP, he has so far contacted three OPCs and they've all said basically the same as in that memo. He's never had a Porsche so he can't have one now.

He's absolutely livid, frankly. He's been a loyal Aston customer for a long time and was willing to jump ship, but can't because they only want to keep their bum chums happy and don't care about new business.

So he's said 'Go fk Yourselves' and managed to secure an Aston GT8 slot from his dealer and it'll sit in the garage next to a DB11 when that arrives. Excellent work, Porsche!

No, he's livid because he'd like to buy a car and can't!!

He's not angry with the OPCs, he's angry with the speculators and flippers that have created this scenario. And Porsche. The OPCs are merely reacting to the situation created by flippers and are trying to stem that tide.

But there should be the chance for someone to buy one of the cars if they're an enthusiast and would use it well.

It's ridiculous.

Mmm.

I'm now fairly "livid" that he managed to get a GT8 when I was told to fk off several weeks ago.
To clarify, he had a GT8 on order from ages ago when they were first announced. The dealership moved his slot to someone else, but he offered them a bit more for it back. So technically it was always his biggrin

No, I believe he knew the person who took over the slot originally and it was worked out between them, then worked out with the dealer. Aston had no dealings with any money.
