Selling my 997 today. Thought I'd post up my running costs out of interest...

High spec 997 C4S Cab, 55 plate, bought in 2012 with 2 previous owners & 33,000 miles for £35k
Selling 4 years later for £23250 to trade with 68,000 miles for £23,250

Cost of servicing repairs, maintenance @ indi garages = £9000 (includes new gearbox for £4k)
Stereo upgrade £2300 (less £400 for selling the old bits)
Non OPC Warranty extension £1500 (covered some of the above bills - maybe £3k worth)
Insurance £2.5k
Fuel £10k
New wheel swap £1k

Depreciation = 11,750
Maintenance inc. warranty = 10,500
Insurance, tax, MOT = 4,000
Wheels & stereo = 2,900
Fuel = 10,000
Total = £39,150

Or all in £815/month
Or £1.12 per mile

I've enjoyed it but it's not been hugely reliable although at least the engine has been fine with no oil usage or funny rattles etc. It's expensive isn't it. Although if I had leased a new BMW 330i or something for £500 a month it would have probably cost the same overall I guess

Can't imagine my new car will be any cheaper to run though... fancied a V8 before they are banned though!

It was a manual box, when I got the car it had a bit of a grind from 5th to 6th so Northway fixed it, much later it developed a crunch from 3rd to 4th and I decided to replace the box for peace of mind. May have been my style + short shifter but after the new box went in I was much more careful with changes
The non-OPC warranty paid out well over it's cost to me, so it did pay for itself but didn't cover the box sadly

First year warranty included in sale from main dealer, no further warranty taken.

Services - £700, £700, £1200 (brakes), £1200 (brakes). £800 in extra work, wheel refurbs, etc.

4 years, £4600 maintenance, £4,300 depreciation. 14k miles.

£185 a month, or 63p mille plus fuel and insurance.

Insurance and tax £1100 a year, so £4400. 23mpg over 14k is about 600 gallons or 2700 litres at 115p roughly, is £3k give or take.

£17300 total, is £360 a month, of £1.24 a mile. Not totally sure of relevance of cost per mile as so mile dependent, i could have driven it a good bit more with not a great deal of effect on depreciation i would think.

£31k is a great trade in, what was the year / model? Can't have been much older than an 06/07 to have cost £35k to start with?
I only got £23k back for mine but it did have 68k miles. Mine was very high spec though & good condition.

Oh I didn't see your costs were for a Vantage. They are way more milage sensitive than the 997 though, at 70,000 miles it would retail at £29k you would probably get 24k for it from trade
Also if you had done more miles you may have needed a clutch which are eye-watering on the Vantage if memory serves, c. £3K with flywheel.
