I went to my car yesterday to find the battery totally dead.

I connected my Porsche/CTEK charger to the cigarette lighter and the dash cam back to life and it started to charge. This has happened to me before and I know it takes a long time to get to a stage where the battery could start the car again. When I went back tonight to try it, the dash was off again and there was no life in it at all.

My first thought was that the fuse on the cigarette lighter circuit had gone. It looked fine, but I put a fresh one in there anyway. Still nothing.

It is possible that the charger has gone wrong, but it all lights up ok and I haven't got another car to test it on!

I'll replace the battery anyway, but I'd quite like to get this one going so I can go and pick up the new one and so I can open the front boot to put it in!

Anyone had similar?

Thanks for the replies. I just went out and tried it again and it started, so the charger must have been giving it some power, it just took a long time.

The battery is probably about 4 or 5 years old - it replaced the original Porsche one when this happened last time.

The only problem I have got now is that the car has 'forgotten' that it has heated seats fitted, so I'll need to pay the OPC to do a handover again.
