as for using the Export Plates, you are not meant to drive the car on export plates once you have the vehicle in the UK and have it registered.
However I ran my GT2 for 12 weeks on them, never got pulled up and did'nt worry about speed cameras!

load of useful info
Cheers for that, most helpful. If I go to my local DVLA office do they issue me with a registration and plate purchase certificate there and then?

There is also a VAT form - VAT414 - I think.
The car's over 6 months old so I've been told there's no VAT to pay???

I've just done the same with a German LHD 993, same situation with the headlights, MOT'd fine. To an earlier question, I did however need to provide documentation stating that it had been done (along with changing the rear foglight, etc.)
My last 993 had rear fog lamps both sides, is this not the case with German spec cars??

I understand that for LHD and RHD there will be differences but the 993 (C2) I had previously had a pair of fog lights and a pair of reversing lights.
I can understand if the RS only has one of each to save on weight, all of about 25 grams
S'pose I'll have to wait until Saturday to find out...
Elfer - cheers for the offer have only just seen this. Have already collected the car.
Seems like the Certificate of Conformity is more than 1 sheet of paper but actually lists all the work required to get it to meet UK regs. Was initially shocked at the £65 they charge for this but it has been explained to me what is required and that there's a bit of leg work back in Germany that needs to be done before it can be issued.
Aside from adjusting the headlights is there anything else that needs doing before I take it for an MOT?

Crap, car was 1st registered June 1996
Although unlikely, is there any chance that it was 'produced' before then, but sat either in Porsche holding pen or in dealer's showroom until the registration date?
Do you know for a fact that the car's first registration was in Germany, rather than, for example, its having been registered in Austria six months earlier?
That's what I'm hoping for - I've got the original registration document from the 1st owner in Switzerland showing it hit the road on 1st June 1996.
Hopefully the certificate of conformity will show build date *which* may be more helpful. :crossesfingers:

Ask the nice man/lady for a good plate and they will tell you it will be the next one in the book. It was however exactly what I had asked for so must be a hell of a flexible book.
Just to add another degree of needelss complexity I've got my own reg to put on it. Wouldn't mind a car related one if they let me have it... :thinkingcapon:

Agent Orange said:I may have this wrong, but in this case he'll be able to get a CoC from PCGB, and therefore would not need to get SVA inspection, right?
If u take the overlay route it will pass the Mot cos that does nt count, if however u need a Single Vehicle Approval u need mileometer in miles and working

Correct
