I'm thinking of upgrading the power of my 2.7 Boxster but I'm not sure what the options are.

I spoke with a nice chap at essentialstyling and he told me of an "emisions-legal" replacement exhaust system they're working on with Janspeed which all-in should give around 40 bhp for around £1k. The first question is: is this realistic or am I being told porkies?

Either way, what other options are open to me and what effect would any mods have on resale value?

BTW, the car is just under 2 years old and I expect to keep it for another 18 months or so.

Cheers

The explanation was that Porsche deliberately restrict the Boxster as the 3.2S would be "at least" as quick as the 3.4 Carrera if it wasn't (as it's lighter) and this isn't a good marketing move given that it's about £18000 cheaper than the 911.

Further, both the 3.2 and the 2.7 benefit from free-flowing exhaust and cat whereas with the 911 it is pretty much as good as it gets (within reason of course).

To be fair, the explanation seems plausible - but is it?

Well I think that's agreed then

Eventually I'd like to get an S but I can't quite stretch to it yet. Perhaps next year...

BTW, does anyone know whether there will be a performance upgrade on MY2005 Boxsters? I'd be gutted to get an S only to find that if I'd waited there would be one with 280bhp.

Cheers
