996 GT2 register?
Discussion
Hopefully, that idea will fade back in.
I remember when looking for a Ferrari 355, I came across this;
http://www.ferrari355registry.com/Ferrari_Registry...
A GT2 version would be great, at least that way everyone can keep a track of a cars history. (i.e. previous accident damage even if it was unrecorded (like that GT02 FAT car).

Regarding GT02 FAT; has anyone bought that yet?
I think that car is sold, a register would be a good way of going about making sure that future owners know everything about the cars. Also, this is a great way of seeing how many 996 GT2's are still on the road out of the 129 cars.I wonder which number mine is, 08/2004 probably makes it 1 of 16 2004 cars and probably number 12 or there abouts.

Were the MKI Wheels added by choice? As it is possible you have a MKI which was registered in 2004. C.
Dan
I think the mk2 wheels were taken off by Hendon Way Motors before they sold the car to the previous owner; and I am on the lookout for some mk2 wheels.

What's the definitive list of changes between mk1 and mk2 then?
As far as I know it's:
+20bhp
Carbon front vent and rear wing (on clubsport model only??)
GT3 wheels
Different geo setup
PCM2 (on comfort models??)
But it seems most of the 2004 cars I've seen have a mixture of mk1 and mk2 bits.
KAL on here has a mk2 and it dyno'd at around 20bhp less than mine if I remember correctly eh KAL?

That looks pretty useful.
I could probably set something like this up if there's enough interest.
That would be great, lets hope others are interested as well.I could probably set something like this up if there's enough interest.
We'll need a domain name, widowmaker-register.com, 996gt2db.com etc etc.

GT2register.com?
If you're making the effort why limit to 996?
SM
If over time 996GT2 can put in more categories then the website could possibly hold details for all rare and numbered Porsches. If you're making the effort why limit to 996?
SM
Maybe a category for:
996 GT3/RS, 997 GT3/RS/Gen 1/Gen 2
996 GT2 Mk1, Mk2, 997 GT2/GT2 RS
Carrera GT?

Afternoon Gents, just wondered if anyone knew the whereabouts of the Red Press Car - a clubbie also I think? Is it still on circulation or has it gone to it's final trackday/road review in the sky?!
Still out there, saw it a few months ago when it went in for a service and now it has come carbon goodies. Must say, looks great!I have a small record of all the 996 GT2's currently in the UK and as far as I know there are about 60 cars remaining with the others having either recorded accident damage and are still on the road or have been written off.
The website that Gavin was creating is www.gt2db.co.uk.

There would be a few different pages which could all be accessed once a member was logged in –
Page 1) Home – login page
Page 2) Model history; even now there are people who are confused between the Mk1 and Mk2 and when each model was released, the Mk2 was in late 2003 (Open to all)
Page 3) Register of cars including details such as;
VIN,
Colour (past and present, date of last change)
Interior (past and present, as most have been changed to Clubsport spec)
Option codes
Aftermarket extras and modifications
Number of owners
Add your car
Add comments about a car (previous accident damage)
