I don't know what the best oil to put in the 987 Boxster S is...

A new oil by Castrol is meant to be good from what I hear and 5w-40 is a better choice than 0w-40. But a lot of people swear by Mobil1. Can anyone please advise?

so 0w-40 will give me better cold start protection than 5w-40?

Right, Mobil1 0w-40 it is then.

I don't drive it on a track so I think 40 is sufficient for normal operating temperature?

It gets pretty cold in winter.... so why not use 0w-40? I just picked up two 5L bottles from Halfords today.

The only reason I'm changing my oil is to help prevent IMS failure anyway. I hope the Mobil1 new life is up to the job.
