They're touching £49k now, with the new 911 (998) being announced in September do you think these will be £40k anytime soon?

Well with 108 (give or take the odd 996 turbo) in the classifieds there's no shortage!

Do people expect the prices to start to slide as we hit winter and the 991 is introduced?

Would i be daft in parting company with a rare GT2 for one?
Yes, your GT2 looks epic!

Is it hard work compared to a 996 turbo or you just have to be lighter on the loud peddle!

So I made a very solid comment about selling my car and the topic thread and just cos I put a link to my car which is no different to the link above it gets deleted. The classic is apparently no ads in forums!!! So wtf is the link above all about!!

Pistonheads.....you have lost it....and as Duncan says...I'm out!
They deleted my post as well!

I thought you'd complained because I'd said this car (which isn't mine)would sell quicker if it was £40k. biggrin

no mate I never report anyones posts here, but tbh I can't see the value in deleting it......I really can't be bothered posting now!!

and my car is the glasgow car I take it.

I think the location doesn't work well for me, but it will sell. I have a solid overseas buyer getting it checked over this week.
Good luck. If it doesn't sell I'm happy to head 'north of the border' to have a look when it gets to £40k biggrin

Interesting article in Total 911 on the 997 turbo (Mk1) as 'the one to have' as it's the last Mezger engined turbo!

I've been looking for a 996 turbo for a while now but there's so much tempting Porsche coming through it's hard to stay focused. For example:

Boxster Spyder with 6k for £36k (Trade indie) here

Cayman R with 2.5k for £40k (Trade indie) here

997 C2S Gen2 with 41k for £40k (Private) here

997 turbo with 55k for £46k (Trade indie) here

997 GT3 with 52k for £50k (OPC) here

The 997 turbo is the logical choice if I missed a step out, but the GT3 looks something else!

Q: What price is an 06 997 turbo currently in the trade?
I assumed this was a leading question due to the other 997tt depreciation thread running where someone has stated his 46000 mile 06 997tt has had trade bids of 39-40k, hence my reply of "we are finally there"
On the other post the poster says "I have a gen one on a 06 plate with 46K on the clock, it's a high spec and immaculate , dealer has offered 39 to 40 K I doubt I will get much more". That's from one dealer and could be on the generous side if it was to close a deal.

The second post on this thread states that "06 car is already £40k in the trade", which was in April so I would have expected the trade price for a turbo to be lower.

No leading question just trying to get some insight on which is correct. smile

Trade might be 40k, but when can get one off a forecourt for that...
Exactly. The '40k turbo' of dicussion is surely the purchase price.
Yes £40k getting you a car from an indie, which at present is still £5-7k away!

The question is how long until there is a really good example at 40k RETAIL?

In my opinion we are around 8 months off a sub 50k miles car in a desirable colour, good condition and top spec being offered for 40k retail. Autumn 2012 at the earliest.
High miles but looks nice and not far off £40k with negotiation

Cobalt cars, while I like the colour, do seem to be cheaper than others (all other things being equal).
Got to say I like Cobalt blue on the 997 turbo (better than silver, red, black anyway) alternative being grey!

It's a shame more of these traded cars don't go to PH'ers at £39-40k!

(Yes I know it's more hassle for the seller).

IMO if people are that worked up about losing their shirt surely you should get a 25k 996 turbo which has had everything done best 25k you'll spend, and put the 15k into a nice old air-cooled SC or 3.2c.
Don't see any comments from people worried about losing their shirt.

But getting into a 997 turbo at £40k is appealing! biggrin

The issue is you can't buy one at £39k
Oh yes you can, 4 went through last Thursday at BCA Bedford last week all with 35,000 to 45,000 miles all with main dealer history, prices were £36,000 through to £38,000.
Hope this helps....
Fresh news from the alternative 997 turbo price thread wink
