Just wanted to say hello to you all on the forum, been hanging around a while and now a poster! ;0) Live on the Suffolk/Essex border. s

I previously owned a black Griffith 4.3 pre-cat (L503/6 BWC) about twenty years ago and had to get rid due to impending baby daughter and mortgage...

Well today I bought another TVR, this time I have got a Tuscan S MK 1, in fact some of you are probably aware of the car I have purchased, it is T66 TUS from macky17, who by the way is an amazing bloke / nothing I asked was too much for him... If you guys on here are half as friendly with both advice and knowledge to impart, then I will be a happy owner.

Still got a stupid smile on my face, just from the drive home this afternoon, with the amazing engine sound and the poping exhaust.

Looking forward to attending one of the events that seem to be held on here... rain free days only though ;0)

Glenn.

Welcome, pics?

Recently put deposit down on a Tuscan as well, and coming from a chimaera, they are totally different cars. Looking forward to picking mine up next month
Will take some pics at the weekend, been very busy today taking my (72 year old) mother house hunting... She does not like the car much, too loud / too low / too much attention... scary was her overall verdict... So the car is perfect! ;0)

Welcome to Tuscan ownership.

Coming from a Chimaera, you may find a dip in joy, say, in a months time when the buzz of a new car has worn off. They ARE very different cars in terms of engine characteristics. However, work through it, use the 'box and they really tingle your senses.

Don't know if you are aware of this site, some good info on the cars.

Hi Nick,

I must admit I loved the sound of my Griff 4.3 RV8 engine, it was such a throaty burble, the neighbours at the time were not so happy though. When I first heard the sound of the S6 engine I did notice the higher sounding note, however after 2 days of hearing the pitch & popping from the exhaust ;0) It is just as intoxicating.

I think the Griff had 280 bhp whereas the SP6 engine has 380+ bhp. My memory is fading in regards to performance of the Griff but the SP6 engine when pushed is just incredible, and faster, it gets just as many people turning around to see what beast is approaching.

I was given your site details by macky17, who I purchased the car from. The info is fantastic and I am referencing it so much and has been a godsend.
Thanks!

Hi and welcome, I also came from a Chim to a Tuscan, and although they are both very different you can't compare, two totally different cars and different driving characteristics, I've never regretted the move though.

I'm also in the Suffolk Essex border near Haverhill, are you anywhere near?

Are you going to the Burghley House event on Sunday?
Hi Cliffedge,

I live 2.5 miles East of Sudbury, so not too far from you, been through Haverhill a few times when visiting a friend in Whittlesford...

I didn't know about the Burghley event, only just got the car, will not be able to make this one, prior engagement... is it a TVR club event - members only, how often do they meet? I would definitely attend the next one.

Nice one, I bet you cannot wait for the day to arrive. Yes the SP6 engine is different to the RV8, but the Tuscan has insane performance. What size engine did you have in your chimaera?

Hello!

I am a real fan of the tuscan, if there is any justice in the world (or injustice in my favour) I will hopefully be getting one next year.

I am only in Bulmer so you'll have to stop by some time so I can salivate over your car!

James
Hi James,

You are just around the corner mate... wait until Summer arrives June/July and on a weekend I will take you for a spin, just stay in touch.

What Tuscan are you hoping to get Tuscan or Tuscan S?

Glenn

Hi Glenn

Got my sights set on a Mk1 S, hopefully in GTS blue. There is one really close to me, but it is a bit suspect, being sold by suspect people and it is way too much money for a car without a rebuild.
Just wait for the right one. The MK1 I purchased is an S in black, also I have seen lots of debate on here in regards to rebuilds, however the one I just purchased has not had one, maybe a risk but the owner (2 back) had a pre-oiler installed, and clutch/slave fitted, (both Race Proved).

Also I asked in regards to the full service and the condition of the finger followers /valves and was told there were excellent, so 32500 miles / 11 years, I am hoping I have a good one that has not been abused.

Hi Glenn, congratulations....I was the owner (and originator of the plate) T66 TUS, 3 owners ago , before the receproved oil cooler was fitted .
During my year with it, it was faultless (apart from a window endcoder issue) and I always warmed it up properly and pampered to it's every whim. It was a fanatastic car ...the original 'batmobile' .
It would be nice to see it again in the flesh ...I'm now in another MK1 Tuscan ...M77TUS.
Have alot of fun .
Hi Mattus,

Small world, its so good to hear from other people who have had history with the car.

You calling the car the original 'batmobile' is so funny because that is what I said to macky17 (Niall) when I first saw it in the flesh. Not just me being the sad case. ;0)

I was going to put my daily run around plate G13NNH onto what ever I purchased, but when this car popped up and I saw the plate, the decision was made... I was also born in 66, the only improvement I think could be T666TUS... ;0)

Nice to hear your ownership was faultless and that you always warmed it up correctly, gives me more confidence in regards to rebuild/no rebuild.

Where are you based, do you do any of the events, typical there are two on this Sunday, one PHEA run to Aldeburgh, and someone mentioned a TVR meet in Lincoln area I think, its in this thread, but I have a prior engagement.

I will do a future event so If you also do them (depending where you are based) you can see her again!

It is amazing that so many people put Tuscan number plates on their cars, I think I will be shocked when I see one without one, you seem to have a talent for sourcing them and kudos on the plate that I love! ;0).
