I've been looking into exhaust mods for a while on the Tuscan to 'solve' a couple of problems :

1) Cans potentially 'falling' off ,via the weakened stub on the rear box
2) The ability to pass track day noise levels , but being able to have pops and bangs and 'TVR sound' on the road ..

Hopefully this could be useful to other Tuscan owners with this type of quandry.

My current set up on my Sagaris engined 2000 Mk1 Tuscan is Ed Quick (conical) decats, a std 54mm (non S) exhaust (Zircotec coated manifold and decats), with the intermediate 'cherry bomb' style 'silencers' mid section (over the chassis plate), into empty back boxes, into carbon can type fully sleeved (loud) cans. The noise level on this set up is very ' TVR' ....lots of pops and bangs, a nice speed six sound and relatively loud (maybe too loud for long journeys) ...and additionally it would never meet <105db static noise levels on track.

I looked at various threads on back box removal and replacement with straight through pipes etc ...and decided that was the way to go ...but also with the added option of a quiet and noisy system using easy fit Interchangeable parts..

Graham, at Exhausts by design (Tingewick) fabricated the following system which ticked all my boxes :

The idea was to have a quiet system :
Replace the'empty' back boxes with a baffled/packed silencer and fit baffled 'quiet' cans

and a loud system :
Sraight through pipe (removal of the back boxes) and loud cans.

...and both systems being fabricated to allow easy removal and interchangeability/replacement with each other ...

So this is the new quiet system : back box silencers + quiet cans

and this is the intermediate system : back box silencers + loud cans

and this is the loud (insane!) system:

Slip joints are inserted into the straight section of pipe after the 'cherry bombs' and brackets or clamps for the end cans, together with the existing straps .

Quiet to noisy 'fitment' takes about 15 mins .....I reckon the quiet system will be ~95db ....and the noisy system is hilarious ...probably 125 db plus ...it sounds like a spitfire engine (or what i imagine one would sound like ..)laughnutssilly ....It's much, much louder than the decat, back boxes and loud cans ...

I'm really pleased with the results and all respect to Graham for fabricating such a simple and interchangeable system...that fits together soooooo well ...

Heres a few more piccys:

Have fun, hopefully see you at Burghley ..

Yup , I'm sure Graham won't mind ..it was £450...
set of silencers , set of straight thru' pipes , all new clamps , mods on fitting to make it a perfect fit ...well chuffed .
The welding and workmanship / attention to detail is really good .
