I've just started doing an Allan Howell hinged bonnet conversion using one of his DIY kits. It's interesting now see everything that was previously hidden from view. One thing I've noticed is that the bonnet has no heat shield material and I think the car must have been built without it being used. Did TVR not use any form of protection especially over the exhaust area? I've seen photos of other cars with it fitted - is it necessary? There is no sign of any heat damage to the bonnet moulding or the paintwork.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice. As I've got the bonnet off I think I'll take the opportunity to fit some as a precaution.
