Hi all, have searched but maybe not well enough- my cam cover is being powder coated, and before I took it in I stripped it and the 6 "top hats" basically dropped out which push into the holes where the spark plugs go.

I'll be re-fitting this weekend and just checking do I just push the 6 inserts back in with a bit of silicone to seal them? (I should add they appeared to have been previously fitted with resin/araldite which had come loose over time)

I also have the posh gasket to fit when I put it back on, if it makes any difference.

Cheers,
TC

Thanks, I was planning on using evo-stick to hold the gasket to the cam cover, it is common practise with Rover V8's so should be ok with the S6. Then I'm not sure whether to clean and dry the top of the head or lightly oil/grease it where the rubber gasket sits, may ask the shop!

It is indeed. I've tried to get bolts slightly longer but my stockist was out, will assess if I need to get longer ones when fitting it comes round!

I assume the top hat type inserts are so the HT lead seals tightly around the top. Picked up my covers yesterday- heres how they look! Look sooo good in the flesh, they will contrast perfectly with the gun metal grey car!

p.s. Matt I like your engine build thread smile
