Hi guys, me again (cue the Harry Enfield accent)

Was driving for aprox 3 hours on Sunday. The LCD screen went very faint and then the Speed o'metre stops at 10.

Is this common practice on long trips or shall I replace the LCD?

Thought please guys and gals.

Thanks.

Hi,

had my original LCD screen replaced just after i bought the car, new screen is set on a dark contrast that lightens up after it heats up. Was told this is a standard issue with them, this was supplied by racing green. bit of advice, if you are changing the screen, make a note of the mileage displayed. I luckily did this prior to it being removed, as mine lost all memory..

with regards to the speedo needle, when mine gets hot it starts to play up, believe it could be something to do with the stepper motor slipping inside the pinion gear as the plastic expands quicker than the metal. I live with this and only read the speed of the digital read out as i have always found this more true

I was about to post about Lee.

I've not met the guy and am awaiting my Tamora dash as I type - should be here tomorrow. Those that have received previous screens can't fault the product. What I would say is that he is spread pretty thin and seems to have sporadic time on projects. His communication is woeful but I did order a screen and it is on it's way so the end goal is close.

I suggest that if one person from the Tuscan hive is prepared to feel out the group and then approach Lee with rough numbers and an item to inspect then this may produce a robust solution to the Tuscan dash issues.

Thanks, yes, the screen fades badly when it's in use for over an hour and the speedo needle just stops.

Milky400 said:
slightly confused about what you are asking. the LCD screen in the centre of the pod that is fading is replacable on its own, just involves pod removal

however, if you are not losing lines in the display (as i was) i would go into the pod settings first and darken it with the contrast settings to see if this helps (do this when its cold and set it as dark as you can without not being able to see it).

My new one supplied by Racing Green fades when it gets hot, so i have the contrast adjusted to the point where it is almost unreadable on the coldest of morings, but after a couple of minutes it fine and at its hottest its perfect ledgible

As soon as the car has cooled down, both work fine. Looking on other threads I have found a cheaper company called Pacer that sell this product. Cheaper than all the dealerships.

Still waiting on final price but won't be the £150-185 that other companies are charging.

Always nice to have a bargain. Will let you know when I have changed the contrast as I'm driving to Sandbanks this weekend so a nice 2 hours journey is this lovely weather.

I have to do the contrast to as dark as possible thing as well on mine so it lightens up with use.

Also once the speedo has stopped does it work again if you switch the car off and back on or do you have to wait until later (I.e. Until the car has cooled down)?
Does it also reset to zero or always go back to 10?

I should contact him.
mk1fan said:
The stuff he makes for TVRs he does on the side. The LCD screens in the classifieds are his. They are for Tams, T350s and Sags and different to Tuscans. He's just finished a run of them.

As said above the LCD screen is just a screen. His versions are more powerful, clearer, more defined. That is, you cansee the information in direct sun light. They are just a better product to the standard item.

Rather looking forward to hearing your thoughts on your screen.

I'll contact him and see if he contact me within a day's. Failing that I'll just buy another one from Pacer. I'm reluctant to pull it out and have it sent out though.

Let me know when you install it and end product buddy. Thanks

Read first post. He doesn't have a Tuscan dash so has nothing to prototype against. A spare is available from another member.

Also note my comments about his comms. I had no confirmation that he was making one for my Tam just an email saying it was ready for delivery.

Thanks, I am happy to be part of a group. Shall I create a thread or would you be happy to do so? I'm sure we could get at least 5-10 people, no? I changed my contrast today to level 6 as that seemed the best for me. Pacer will be calling me tomorrow though. I'm pretty sure it's way cheaper than Racing Green but will let you all know.

Look Dani, as I said, I was happy to send him mine (which was broken with lines) as a test bed. I couldn't contact him and he didn't take up my offer.
If you make contact with him, I am happy to send my broken LCD as a "test bed", if he can use it to develop a better solution.

I guess like all things, the financial incentive needs to be there, and, as already pointed out, the only way to maybe do this is for someone from the Tuscan forum to coordinate a "group" buy. The Tamora and T350 purchasers of LeeT350's screens all say what a massive improvement it is.

Thanks Lee. That's great and I really appreciate your response. I've just ordered another screen so I'll be fine for a while, but, certainly looking forward to seeing what you can do. More than happy to send you the other one if you need it as a test, obviously you suggest having the car but that wouldn't be possible for me as it's my only car.

Have a well deserved break Lee and contact us when you have the time for us Tuscaners.

Dani.

Hi Dani / All

Dani I have your email and will respond but cant promise anything. As mentioned above I do these in my spare time which to be honest is very limited as I have a day job and a family which both take up almost all my time. Also my wife moans!!! plus the more time I spend doing these things the less time I get to drive my car so its a fine balance.

My comms as mentioned can be slow at times especially if i'm away or busy and often a lot of emails end up in various spam folders especially now PH has changed the format for sending them from the advert.

As a heads up its not just about getting a screen or a dash etc there is a lot more to it. When I did the one for the T cars I spent days / weeks of spare time on it but I had my car to plug into to test / develop etc. Even with a spare display from a Tuscan or a dash pod (nearly bought one once off ebay just for this) I have nothing to plug it into to work on testing how to drive the backlight / lcd and how it looks etc.

I am still doing them for the T cars and would love to be able to do one for the Tuscan as I can see its an issue but you will have to bear with me. I will try and do some research and obtain some parts if I can and also a Tuscan owner near me who might lend me his car if required.

Sorry its not 100% what you want to hear but there may still be some hope as like above I have done nearly 100 for the T cars with equates to a lot of happy owners :-)

Also I go on hols in a few weeks for a well earned break!! so wont be on my email.

Cheers

Lee
