Battery access.

May be a bit of a daft question but what is the red lever for in this picture of my battery cover? I thought it was just secured with bolts?

I tried turning it but the headlights still worked so not sure.

Ok I tried again and you're right, it was a key that came all the way out but unfortunately the doors and lights still worked when it was fully removed. I guess it's not connected up, to check this I would have to remove the front wheel? Thought my winter battery problems were nearly solved for a minute.

Yeah I have a charger, it's a bit awkward because the car is on the drive so an battery isolator might have been easier.

I just tried the lights and doors as a quick test as I assumed an isolator was all or nothing. When reaching in to put try the lights I did notice the immobiliser red light still flashing though. I should try the engine for completeness.
