Hi Guys

A year ago I made my first post about looking for a Tuscan and put a potential candidate up for comment, that one didn't go any further.

For the last year I've still been looking, ideally wanting an S but having seen some of the prices I thought maybe not and started looking at Cerberas also. I even managed to get the missus to look at 2 cars with me. She can't see the point of TVRs and thinks any car is just a tin box for getting from A to B (shops mainly). I'm sure some of you can identify with this.

Over the months I've gradually been talking her round and about 7 weeks ago I spotted a post in this forum where some was considering selling their car. The thread was only 4 posts long, no price was mentioned and no advert appeared.

I popped an email asking about the car and sure enough I'd seen it and took a couple of pics at Burghley this year. We had a good chat about the car and I ended up going to have a look. Ian was a nice guy who has previously owned a Griff and Sag and was really selling because business meant he didn't get the chance to use it. Only 1000 miles over the last year. Took it for a drive even though the weather wasn't great and without making a commitment discussed puchase and how it might take 6 weeks to come up with the cash due to some other dealings I had going on at the time. He was fine with that as he was in no rush, and I felt he wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't sell!

On the way home I nipped into TrackVRoad, who have looked after the car for the last 5 years while Ian owned it, and picked their brains over coffee. Upshot was no issues whatsoever, car was a good one, Ian was a stand up guy who had no hesitation in spending what was needed to keep the car right. He'd even spent time under the ramps at the last service cleaning and fettling.

Headed home quite happy, discussed & argued with the missus but after a couple of days I rang Ian, made an offer and the deal was done.

Fast forward to Tuesday heading down to Liverpool in a 1 way hire car (better than train or bus) and knock at Ian's door at about 9.15. Bank transfer took 30 secs literally, taxed online - also painless process (apart from the cash) and off we go.

Headed back to TrackVRoad where I'd booked a low mileage service and chatted with the guys again, nightstop in Clitheoe enjoying a few beers. Picked up by the guys on Wednesday morning as it's chucking it down. Bit more chat over coffee - pay the bill and off we go again - back to Sunderland.

It rained all the way, loads of stabding water some of it deep - felt more like driving a submarine but I made it. It even fits in the garage that I've been clearing for the last few weeks.

can't wait for a fine day so I can get out and experience the noise and feelings.

for the record, it's a 2003 Tuscan S in Reflex Green 25k miles and I love it!

PS I am very fortunate to also have a Griff SE and I can't tell you how it feels to open the garage door and see the two of them sitting side by side

PPS Thanks to Ian for allowing me the time to do the funds bit and also the guys at TrackVRoad - if anyone was looking for somewhere to take their car I can heartily recommend and I will be going back when needed.

Cheers
Mark
