Spanish Flyer On The Way
Viper-powered supercar arriving next month
An all-new Viper-powered supercar announced last year by Spanish outfit GTA Motor has completed development trials and will be officially launched in April.
That’s the latest word from the factory in Spain, which bullishly claims it expects to build 99 examples of the car in spite of the credit crunch. Prices, along with the name, are being saved up for the launch. Just don’t expect it to be cheap!
According to a factory press release, track-testing shows the GTA concept will clock 0-100kmh in under 3secs, and has a top speed of over 350kmh. The V10 engine is mounted longitudinally in a Kevlar, carbon and titanium chassis and pumps out 780hp and 920NM of torque through a seven-speed sequential gearbox – although an auto version will also be optional.
The GTA Concept double wishbone suspension at both ends, adjustable shocks and Pirelli Pzero-shod bespoke wheels (19ins at the front, 20ins at the rear). AP Racing carbon ceramic brakes are fitted, and the car’s glass panoramic roof is said to give an open-air feeling while being ‘sporty and elegant’. The roof apparently has a patented system of interior lighting and liquid crystal shading.
Prior to its launch, GTA Motor has revealed a handful of ‘teaser’ shots of its car undergoing testing. According to project manager Domingo Ochoa the three-year development program has resulted in a car that GTA believes ‘will set a precedent in the international automobile scene’. Olé!
