My old Cerb back up for sale
Discussion
Its currently in the classifieds I sold it back to Tony Gilbert in August 2012 with 30k miles on and its still only on 31k now, its up for similar money that I paid back in June 2006 it just shows how well these cars hold their money.
Makes me a little sad seeing it again...now where`s my cheque book!

Thanks for the kind words Guys, Tim it has brought the memories flooding back reading through that thread and let`s face it my Z4M only lasted 5 months and my M3 only 10 months in my ownership so clearly I haven't got over my TVR ownership as nothing else seems to come close.
I am just considering what the best option for me regards my next TVR is as I think if I am honest maybe the Cerbera is out of reach financially running costs wise as when I owned my Cerb and that £11k bill turned up after the rebuild and other bits and bobs I struggled finding that sort of money so I think a different model could be a more wise move maybe.
After visiting Burghley at the weekend its really wet my appetite again but I cant deny that the Cerbera seems to lull me in the most there just seems to be something very special about them.

Hi Adam, the oil relief spring snapped and caused pretty big damage to the engine I think I was a little unlucky as most say the AJP is solid, the engine was taken out and sent to the engine builder and it needed a new crank and a new cylinder head and a rebuild, while the engine was out it had a new clutch and slave cylinder and a few bits and bobs to get it through the MOT.
I was without the car for 9 months in total and the final bill was £11k which not only broke my heart but hammered my wallet and in turn made my missus hate TVR`s!!!
I was only saying to her though today had that not happened the car wouldn't have been a too bad investment as they haven't lost money in 8 years which I think is very impressive, even though I went through some pain with it I had the usual starter motor issues and boot lock problems but I still loved the thing to bits and I still haven't got over selling it nearly two years later.
TVR ownership is a love affair and I am still in love!!

I just keep remembering the B road blasts and the way the car makes you feel while doing it as its such an angry noise you get from the engine and they loved to be revved and the feeling just gets better and better...I just haven't had that thrill since its been gone.
I know some don't like the noise of the Cerb as they describe it as a little unusual and lacking character but I really liked its rawness and I think the sound was epic at the top of the rev range yet they still sound aggressive on tick over...the sound was the biggest disappointment for me with both my V8 M3 and Z4M just no comparison and neither was the driving experience either.

I sold my old Cerb in favour of an M3 convertible, instantly regretted it, the M3 lasted 6 weeks and Ive been running my new Cerb for a year now. Occasionally I have a sane moment and wonder what the hell im doing but love is blind, im never selling......
Seems we have a very similar view regards how awesome a Cerbera is and how not so great a M3 is! TimJM said:

Do it Lee! We'd all be delighted to see you back in your Cerbera.
+1 - Go do it!I understand what you said about the 11k bill (if I was presented with an 11k bill I would expect another Cerbera thrown in too) but now it has had all that major surgery it has got to be good for 19k.
As I said the only way to know is to take it out for a test drive. If you feel you can't risk a test drive for fear of falling back in love then you should be putting down a deposit down already!

Why don't you go and test drive it to see if the thrill is still there. No harm in that...
Without wishing to be too controversial (and because a friend of mine had this exact same dilemma when the 4.5 Cerb he'd owned for 8 years came back up for sale), wouldn't it be a little bit like going back to an ex-girlfriend after she'd been shacked up with some other bloke? On the face of it it may seem like a romantic idea but in the back of your mind you would know that somebody else had been there... I don't think I could do it.I think the answer is to keep an eye on the Cerberas in the classifieds and wait until something else jumps out of the page
