Hi,

I'm Nils from Belgium.
I've been the proud owner of a 2002 Cerbera 4.5 since past friday!
It's a wonderful car but there's a problem I don't understand.
Under heavy acceleration it pops and bangs...
Kind of like a heavy machine gun fire.
It's had his 24K service 1200 miles ago with James Agger.
So normally they would've check the tappets and such.
I'd like to take the car to Joolz for the short induction.
But he says it's not a mapping problem and it should be sorted before he can map it.

Could it be the throttle pot? (can I check?)
cracked headers?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Nils

Yes I know that's normal.
But it's under full throttle when it pops and bangs.
it's not there under 3/4 of throttle.
and when under full throttle the acceleration is also jerky.

I'll pull the sparks plugs first and look at the colour

Do you, by any chance, know where the ECU is located?

Just pulled out the ECU.
Will have to get an USB/serial converter in the morning.
Then I can run a diagnostics tomorrow.

Well I was thinking along the lines of fuel delivery as well.
I'll get some injector cleaner in the morning as well.

Thanks for the reactions so far!

OF COURSE!!

It is a blast to drive.
Love the sound, the interior, the handling, the steering,...
I just love the car!

It's a 2002 mk2 4.5 in Grigio Titano and portland grey interior with blue carpets.
The pictures don't do it justice because it's a lot nicer in real life.

What's on the to do list:
-Short induction an remap from Joolz.
-Fix the airboxes (the back plates are cracked)
-replace the clutch master cylinder
-if there's any funding left --> performance headers
-Enjoy it as much as possible

Hi James!

Yes it is a wonderful car indeed!
He gave me a folder with a portfolio of the car But any more info you've got is more than welcome
I'll PM you my e-mail.
Are there things that need attending on this perticular car?

Yes he has quite an impressive garage. He was getting rid of the Cerbera, the Viper and the Z-Cars mini for a murcielago.

Regards

Nils

Hi Dutch!

Yes I know Marc very well.
But he's quiting TVR and handing it over to someone in Tienen.
So I try to respect that. Plus he's not to keen on working on Cerbera's biggrin
He really hates them biggrin

Well I'm going to do a readout today
But I'm going to replace the spark plug, leads and the coil packs.
It all looks like it has never been replaced (apart from the spark plugs)
It's not a big job and not to expensive parts.
And decided to make the backplates myself in aluminium.
£195 for two backplates is kind of steep IMHO.
I'll fabricate them myself with some 70mm tubing and 2 aluminum cutouts.
once painted black It'll be hard to spot the difference

Hi Mr. Cerbera

thanks for the invite!
That would've been a great idea if I hadn't ordered everything yet wink

Yes I've already downloaded the diagnostics software but my local computer store didn't have the cable. rolleyes
They'd have it by tomorrow.
I indeed know MF Cars, but I don't want to bother him to much. He has enough work as it is smile

Thanks

Started making my backplates today.
Had some aluminium tubing laying around which happend to be the right size biggrin

Tomorrow I'm taking the old backplates off so I can make a aluminium template.
Cut it out and weld the 8 tubes on.
