How do I remove window switches ??

Looking to test the down switch on the left of the stereo as my passenger window will happily go up but not back down again.

I cant work out how to do it via the ECU connectors either if anyone can do a dummy version of what I connect where for this please?

I can find all the connectors in Tims posts, but not actually how to manually operate the motors manually?

Sussed the ECU wires now. I just sat with the wiring diagram for a while longer and realised I was only sending a positive feed to each of the wires, thinking one was for up and one for down. Direct 12v across the two and window now operates via ECU connector. Simple now I have done it!

Now just need some advice on removing window switches before I rip into it!

The only issue I have left to fix is that the passenger window wont wind down???

Thanks fellas. I have already taken the first advice and tested the switched at the control box using Tims excellent older post advice. I get full response from each press. So it looks like all my switches work just fine.

However mine are the older style black plastic type and dont feel very positive, also not backlit at all. So I will replace these as a matter of course anyway.

Looking at the snaps I am going to be best removing the head unit and do the job properly. May as well swap it for a modern unit at the same time.


Update...

From my checks I have worked out that everything seems fine other than the control box. But I had a nightmare yesterday when I plugged the unit back in for a last test before shipping off to Paul. There was a series of clicks and the wondows all wound themselves up, when the alarm was powered back up I suppose. I moved the unit slightly to disconnect again and the whole box filled with thick white heavy smoke as it started to catch fire!!! Luckily I was there and the lid was off!! I diconnected the pwer block quickly and pushed the garage door remote ready to shove the car outside and not burn my house down! Luckily I caught it intime though and all was well. Still gave me a fright!

SO my word of warning, always have quick access to your garage door and have the correct fire extinguisher to hand when working on electrics!!

Box now going off to Paul and then onwards to Carl for Alarm update.

Yeah, cheers. WIth this in mind I had already numbered the plugs and only removed one of the smaller connectors at any one time. The whole system was working just fine, barring the passenger window not going down. I had only removed and replaced the longer connector and the smaller one beneath it that you control the windows with and check the swtiches. I do however think I had got them wrong at some point prior to this and for what ever reason did not fry anything at that time.

Got the box sat next to me now, and after two days it still stinks!
