My cars been off the road since I removed the radiator mid way through the year. I've taken various bits off my car over the 11 and a half years I've owned it, only to find someone's written on the underneath of things. My interested started the first service I did on the car and noticed that someone had drawn an elaborate face peering over a wall on the oil filter. This was followed by messages like 'hello Jude' on the back on the fuel tank. There are several more like this I've forgotten. I assume the guys at the factory were simply bored, or marking their territory like a future time capsule.

The latest was on the back of the instrument binnacle as I was putting a new temp gauge in.

So I thought I'd start a thread for two reasons. To see if anyone can explain some of what was put there, and to see if anyone wants to share some of the time capsules written on the cars to celebrate the people that made them.

P.S. I know of at least one car that had a number of obscenities written on the panels of his cars against what I assume to be the factory management. I won't out the person as that's not fair but it would be interesting if he posted on here smile.

I'd guess "2193" was the chassis number, which would mean it was completed somewhere around Sept 2008, because my second Griff was just a few cars afterwards. (In fact, I might even have pictures of your car on the line, in the background somewhere.)

My understanding is that a lot of the body parts were "signed" by the teams who put the moldings together. Some of the marks might also be from the customers themselves - my wife and I were allowed to sign the inside bodywork on our car when we visited, prior to the interior being trimmed.
Thanks for the info but I suggest its unlikely as mine is a 2000 model car.

In which case that is Cerb # 2193 then!
So does that mean that the vin number, and the sequential number of Cerbs produced co-incide?
