Anybody know this car?

Evening all!
Im currently shopping around for a "cheap" ferrari... I know... dont start!!!

Im looking for a weekend toy thats a bit different from the TVR's and Lotus'es ive had before so thought i would look at something like a 308.

im mildly interested in this:

Questions:
Is buying something like that a huge mistake?
what should i be looking out for if i go and look at it? obviously condition/rust etc...

Andrew - what do you mean exactly about the colour combo?

unfortunately, i would go for a much later car, but my budget is really under 15k

That makes sense yes - red in silver, ive had 2 cars with that combo (current included)

Yes i think it has to be a ferrari, I have looked at the maserati 4200, but to be honest i dont think they look that special, seems to have aged quickly, looks like a jag from a distance.

and 911? hmmm, no, been there, got the t-shirt :-)

Im finding it very hard to get a real idea of the valuations on these early mondeals... they seem to vary drasticly depending, i assume on what the owner THINKS its worth... I have seen them range from 9k to 20k, with very little obvious difference other than how despirate the seller is!!!
i know its hard to say, because as they say a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
