Any pics of the new sports exhaust?
Is it just the pipes or the whole back box?
I seem to recall that the original back box was made of inconel and huge but formed part of the rear crash structure of the car. There was a pic of a totalled F1 which crashed in Germany years ago and the rear end slammed into the central barrier. Complete mess but it seemed to do its job.
I will post some pictures when I get them. The latest sports exhaust is titanium. IIRC it weighs around a quarter of the original. I belive it still forms part of the crash structure.Any pics of the new sports exhaust?

pretty sure he flew mclaren over and they just did it in his garage for the camerasSo the new exhaust does have boxes that act as crush cans in the event of an accident - although they are smaller than the original item. It's a flows a little more freely so should give some additional power, although McLaren don't quote a figure for this.

Great pics.......thanks for posting.
What's the clutch life like on an F1?....... I read sonewhere that Rowan A had had about 4 in his F1 in 30 odd k miles. Fact or fiction?
Transverse gearbox design also looks interesting......
I think clutch life varies dramatically depending on how the car is driven - I heard of single clutches lasting 20-30k miles. Sadly mine only lasted 3k but that was largely under the previous ownership. What's the clutch life like on an F1?....... I read sonewhere that Rowan A had had about 4 in his F1 in 30 odd k miles. They can be fried pretty easily...

Please don't take the following as criticism, because it whole-heartedly is not - I think the car is magnificently awesome.
But....
Was red your first colour choice?
It's a little unusual for an F1, and I realise that availability must dictate this to a large degree when you bought it, so I was just wondering if you'd have specced that new?
No - I can honestly say that red was not my first choice. I really like the F1 in dark silver or white (quite partial to the bronze/metallic brown car too). I would go as far as to say that the colour of the car used in the press brochures are normally the best, and stand the test of time - however the light silver is just too common (if there is such a thing in a low production run).But....

My choice was largely dictated by availability and the fact that I wanted to find a car in as original condition as possible,
That said, I think the red looks amazing 'in the flesh'' - it really works. I wouldn't change it for another colour now.
