Hi
I am off to Italy in April in a Ferrari and was keen to get a proper tour of the Ferrari factory. I have heard that the general tour is not too good and was wondering if other Ferrari drivers had managed to get a proper factory tour where you might actually get into the factory itself - perhaps something provided to Ferrari owners. If anyone has managed to do that and enjoyed the tour please would you let me know how you managed it and who to contact. Would be grateful!!

We are staying a week in Lake Como and a week in Lake Isio. Hope to get some great touring and drives whilst we are there. Any advice on this region would also be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Thats great feedback guys. i will contact the Dealer tomorrow and see what they can do for me. I pot all cars through service with them so they shouldn't mind helping. Interesting feedback re Monza - we will definitely do the Enzo museum. Thanks again!!

Well thanks all for the advice regarding the factory tours etc. We have booked a Private Tour of the factory through the guys at Maranello and look forward to that very very much. we are taking a 599GTO across so that will involve lots of epic driving in the Lakes regions - cannot wait now - only 70 more sleeps!!!!!!

I wrote to this email address maranello@sytner.co.uk with a general question and had a very efficient response from a lady called Kim. She offered me a tour at £75 per head and for an additional £100 we now have a private tour for two - £250 plus VAT. May sound a lot but I think it is something we will only do once so wanted to make sure we got the most from it. They were very easy to deal with and arranged everything.

Only 3 weeks left until my trip to lake Como and Lake Garda and the factory tour!! Cannot wait. Took the GTO out for a spin to check all was ok and to test which cases fit the boot- looks like we are going to have to reassess the luggage downwards!!! Car ran beautifully as usual and will get a thorough clean this week for its return to it's birth place. I am as excited as a dog with two appendages!!!!!!!!!

I did a similar trip quite a few years ago. You will love it.

The factory was impressive then but will have changed a lot since I went.

I hope you are treating the wife to the Villa D'este at Como?

Where are you ataying at Garda? I went there as part of my honeymoon 2 years ago and stayed at the Lido Palace in Riva Del Garda which was superb. The German Ferrari owners club were staying there at the same time so lots of nice metal in the car park.
Hi
We are staying at Palace Hotel Villa Cortine in Sirmione at Lake Garda and yes Villa D'este at Como. Sounds like I have at least one winner!!!!

The drive through Sirmione to hotel is one you will remember - it's really tight with tourists everywhere
That has depressed me. Sounds like my worst nightmare!! I was hoping to get out every day but that might change things!! I might be fortunate in that I am not going at the busiest time I suppose!!

Day 1 in Italy. Road conditions beyond appalling and road signs crap!! But here at Villa D'Este and car safe and sound in car park. Looking forward to some of the more challenging roads this week.

Saw this beauty parked up in the hotel

Drove up the left hand side of Lake Como. Amazing how many 911's cruising around!! Took in a 3.5km tunnel with all the fun and noise opportunity that that provides. Also saw these two beauties in Menaggio

Parked up after almost killing myself and the car (and oh yes my wife!) crossing a road to park across the way. My fault but a momentary lapse in concentration!!

Just about to set off up the SP44 across top of mountains and switch backs hairpins from Como to Bellagio

Parked up admiring the views!!

Safe enough parked next to the local police chariot.

Not been out today except to get some petrol for tomorrow's run to Lake Garda. Two old gents at the petrol station were all over the car asking photos and a few high revs and I eventually got away after many shakes of the hand.

When I returned I saw this Danish Porsche with a nice plate outside the hotel main door

And when I went into under ground park I was in for a real treat with this immaculate DB5!!!

The best of Britsh and Italian car manufacturing together?

Looks like a fantastic trip!!

If you are at the factory on Tuesday I may well see you there as we have a rather special trip back from the factory starting next Wednesday! Artic with cars leaves the UK for the factory on Sunday.
Have had a great time and the factory tour was brilliant. I was there on Tuesday 7/4 and had a private tour in the morning, lunch at Enzo's favourite restaurant and spent a few bob at the shop. I am home bound now and my car is being transported back Saturday. Will write more about it in due course.
