Assuming the availability of a nice example of each from a friend of a friend and ignoring values (please, IGNORING values), which would you choose? (I say ignoring values because I couldnt give a hoot, I just want to pick the car that'll give me the best investment in FUN!)

I've done a lot of research online and my findings thus far are... based on the fact the Superleggera Mk1 was released in 2007 (?) and Scuderia in 2010 (?) and is a consensus that the Scuderia is technically superior. My understanding is also that reviews for the Superleggera when launched were mixed and some drivers suggest the Superleggera isn't different enough from a standard Gallardo to justify choosing over a Scud or even that they "fixed some of the issues of the original Superleggera with its follow up" (as one reviewer put it). However, isnt this the same argument as people will have between 360CS and Scud - i.e. that the Scud IS a better car technically and you can always find fault with the 360CS if you look at its newer model, but that doesnt necessarily mean the older car isnt a fantastic drive in its own right.

For my part, I really like the looks of the Mk1 Superleggera and it has that early "race car for the road" feel that the 360CS has. I know the Scud is a fantastic car but it just looks really fugly to me. I wont really have chance to drive either before making up my mind, so my only concern is that I'll be missing out on a much better driving experience in the Scuderia (from what I've read online) but surely the Mk1 Superleggera is still really fun to drive?

Advice/suggestions/opinions from those who have driven and/or owned both would be appreciated.

If 'Value' is of no concern and you have the budget for a Scuderia, why not look at the LP570 SL or Performante cars, better all round than the Mk1 SL and much more readily available.
True more readily available but many have said the Mk1 has an avid following for being rawer (in a similar sense as the 360CS has a following and the Scud isnt always considered the automatic 1st choice over a 360CS) - is the "following" for the Mk1 Superleggera justified?

I would agree that the Mk1 has more of a cult following but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the better or indeed the more 'raw' car. That's the problem with discussing 'cult cars', owners will defend them to the death regardless of how good they actually are. Mk1 good examples are in high demand but alot of that is to do with price, 100k vs 130k+ for the LP models.

In my experience the only thing better in the Mk1 is the sound, slightly more raucous than the LP, but that's it. The LP570 is faster, sharper, lighter, has a higher cpacity engine and handles better than the Mk1.. that's fact. Subjectively it's also better looking but that will always divide opinion.
Good points and in most cases the newer model will always be technically better, the older cars can still be fantastic for what they are - if they werent no one would enjoy driving any of them still and clearly there are many cars that are still stunning and enjoyable in their own right despite having technically superior successors. In this case though, while I'm keen to ignore values, I do wonder if the Mk1 could ever eclipse the Mk2 as the CS has with the scud.

Nevertheless, I'm curious though to hear feedback from those that have driven Superleggera Mk1 and Scud which theyd choose given the choice of either. Anyone got any personal experience living with both?
